after extensive research I can only conclude that shels are without any doubt the biggest and best club in Dublin, after bohs of course

Tolka is a dump and should be levelled. 1 stadium between Bohs & Shels like was planned would be the sensible outcome but no not in the LOI. We will keep pottering around in 1960s style grounds and stick it out to the bitter end. Publish another plan and waste another 40 years. Ah hereeeee

Great news for Shels fans but still leaves  Dalymount , Tolka and Richmond  ( much as i love the old place ) not fit for purpose as stadiums in the 21st century

Great News
"The Football Grounds of Europe" about Dalymount that :- "You walk down lanes you'd expect to find a backstreet mechanic only to stumble onto a national stadium steeped in tradition and history"

Think you get a lot more houses built on a Dalymount site than one at Tolka. Better to redevelop Tolka and level Dalymount. Sure those all inclusive lovely dovey Bohs fans would be delighted to ground share in Tolka.

Sure we need to get rid of all sports/recreational facilities in north Dublin for housing. Tremendous idea Clap

Because if they were a residential development I'm sure they'd be so affordable and not bought by a overseas fund.

Waterford a good draw but they've beaten Pats and Dundalk already. Hopefully a Derry Shels final to get a good crowd.

Anyone any memories of Billy Newman, the former Bohemians and Shelbourne midfield/inside forward who died this week?

Thanks CH - sorry for late reply. I posted a few words about the circumstances of his only international cap when his name cropped up on the CJ Hamilton thread. He was indeed from Cabra (Carnlough Road) - the same street as Liam, Christy and John Whelan.

RIP Billy Newman. Didn't the famous 5 man selection committee drop Johnny Giles and replaced him with Billy.
Had a career excellent at Shels.
