Scholes won't solve their midfield problems but I think the team has been very low the last while and underperforming. I think Scholes comeback can give the the underperforming players a lift.
I would not bet against it being another Fergie masterclass

I hope so. Even last year though, with him in the squad, the midfield wasn't at its best. Maybe it's good enough for the PL, but not when it came to the CL.

But do you think Scholes will solve UTD's midfield problems?

hel do a job in the premier league and that is utds priority, id rather scholes than buying someone for the sake of buying

Hands up!

Out of the blue for me this one...

Clearly more to give the other players a lift moreso than fo Scholes to add anything on the pitch.

I'm certainly not Scholesie's biggest fan - never have been.  But this could well work for fergie....it gave the players and the fans a major lift going in to today's game and everyone was positive going in to it, rather than pesimistic.

It's a fascinating one.  I would think - and this is just my opinion on it - that he will be brought off the bench to give the team experience when they are winning a game.  Holding on to that lead is something United have let slip a few times this season - and they NEVER used to do that..so I think Scholesie's role will be to dictate the pace of play and keep hold of possession once United are winning to see the game out!

But more than that, he'll lift the players around him...That's the hope anyway I'm sure from ferguson's point of view!

If I keep writing enough hagiographic articles on Man Utd, they might give me a job

This is simple. It's Fergie's message to the Glazers. Look, I have to get a player out from retirement cause you clowns won't give me any money.

Genius move by the genius designed to try get money for new players

I'd say Gerk is closer to the mark than SA on this one.

They need one or two serious signings in the transfer window. Scholes isn't gonna solve their problems in midfield at this stage.

And he is looking for money for a midfielder now and the owners are playing hardball

I think this is all about influence in the dressing room. United have lost 3 huge characters in the last year - Scholes, Van Der Sar and Neville and two long serving players brought up with the United mentality  - O'Shea and Brown. The example Paul Scholes sets in the dressing room, in training and around matches is invaluable to the young players that have been brought in. Fergie has always relied on a dominant character (Robson, Keane, Neville)  to police the dressing room and training and set the example of what Fergie expects of a United player. Others such as Scholes and Giggs command respect from younger players as a result of what they have done in the game. They set the standard of a winning mentality.

I think Ferguson is the man who does this.
I really think it's more of a statement to the owners to show the extent of the midfield crisis.
