He's a brilliant keeper.
He falls into that bracket where he's probably one of the best in the Championship but just not consistent enough to play Premier League again.

West Ham are considering moves for Darren Randolph and Asmir Begovic next month as they target a new No 2 goalkeeper. (London Evening Standard) |

Better off staying where he is than going back to being number 2 at West Ham.

Looks like it's happening. Will be interesting to see how it plays out for him in an Irish shirt.

Not a fan of the potential move, but that’s from a purely Ireland perspective.
He’s a great keeper, and an excellent shot stopper, but Fabianski is an all round better goalkeeper and is unlikely to be dislodged once he returns from injury. David Martin has done reasonably well (without being spectacular) and Roberto just hasn’t worked out so it does make sense that they are in the market. However, I’d much rather any other keeper which doesn’t essentially put all of Ireland’s goalkeepers in the top divisions on the bench.

Seem to remember Martin being poor in the game after he was crying at the end of the Chelsea game, might have been the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal.
Randolph is an EPL bottom half of the table level keeper, just hope he doesn't end up sitting on the bench, which is likely when Fabianski returns.

Might not be all his doing, Middlesboro seemingly under pressure to get rid of some high earners in January. Randolph would probably fall in to that category being an EPL player when they signed him. West Ham, hard to see him keeping Fabianski out, might be a case of hopefully arriving there before Fabianski returns from injury and playing well enough to hold on to the shirt.
It's not a great situation for playoffs if he finds himself back on bench- Westwood hasn't played in 2 months either and won't have been in an Irish squad for a full year by the time March comes around. |

The problem is that Fabianski is due back from his injury any day now and seems likely to be playing on Stephen's Day and obviously thereafter. If that's the case, from a footballing perspective if nothing else, Randolph is likely better staying where he is. Of course, the old premier league truck of cash being driven up to the front door is very hard to turn down. He probably has five years or so left at his current level. From an Irish perspective, we are probably better off with him playing first team football at Boro. From his perspective though, he is probably better taking the truck of cash and warming a London bench.

I hope this doesn't happen.
I enjoy hating West Ham too much to have it interfered with.

Final payday before he retires seems to be the logical reason. Can the best rated goalkeeper in the championship earn more money on the bench of a premier league club than first team with a championship club? |

Yes (Though I'd say he would have been given some assurances of game time )and yes I definitely say he'd be on a lot more money at West Ham then he would be at Boro
