There a piece in the paper about him getting a possible call-up round the time of the Estonia play-off. Not a call-up for that Play-Off but a call up in the future. I'm almost certain it was The Star it was in.

almost certain he's not eligible, it was mentioned when he first broke into the Liverpool side, and it seems his only Irish link is through his great grandfather

The FAI didn't make the rules. They only comply with them. I do agree to an extent in that the rules should be tightened a bit. Players qualifying via the 'granny rule' should have to make a decision before the age of 21 or 23. |
