To my mind McGeady would have made little difference on Saturday night, last. The mentality of the team wasn't right, and Luxembourg were actually better equipped that we expected.

I am not sure about the mentality of the team being not right, but no denying the performance was flat. Agree completely with your other two points. Luxembourg looked very well prepared and a solid outfit. Have watched McGeady too many times at international level not making a difference to be convinced now that he would.

There is no comparison to McGeady in League 1. He is a top, top player who has experience which is second to none. Most players in that division have never played PL, have never won top Scottish honours, and have never even come close to playing in Europe. The fact that he has been able to move centrally, when his history has always been out wide shows how light the work is for him. The difference is coming up against a well oiled international outfit, as against the type of teams and players you'd meet in League 1.

But by the same token we're not talking about Fleetwood or Burton Albion.

The keeper he scored against will probably be in the Ireland squad in the next few months.

McGeady different class still. Jack Taylor did well for Peterborough on his return from injury.

Well taken from McGeady but poor from the goalie.

You'd expect a goalie to save that if the sun wasn't a factor.

It's pretty likely Sunderland will go up this year either through the playoffs or automatically so will Kenny have a change of heart in the summer if McGeady is going to be a Championship player in before the Portugal game? I doubt it somehow.

McGeady is already championship standard and surely Kenny knows that.

McGeady would be the perfect player as an outlet against Portugal in September. He might get a few frees in wide areas which'd relieve at least some of the pressure on the defence.
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

What's the point in picking a 35 year old in a competition we are out of though? I can't understand the thinking at all.
