It's that time of year again - the start of the League of Ireland season is so close that we can almost taste it. Now of course it wouldn't be the LoI without being a complete mess, and as I type I still don't know if Pat's are playing Monaghan in the first match or if Galway will be granted a reprieve. More than likely it will be the Magic Mons.

The best thing about a league table with no matches played is that it encourages everyone to dream. Nobody is ten points clear at the top, while no team is ten points adrift at the bottom.

So to get ready for the big kick-off on March 4th, why don't we all give our predictions for how our teams will do, while also predicting the winners of the other competitions.

I'll go first and as a Pat's fan I'd be delighted with a top-three finish though I know that'll be tough. We dream of winning the FAI Cup in Inchicore, but with our famine now in its 50th year, I think it might be fair to say that a curse is in operation.

Premier League: Shamrock Rovers Dead
Runners-up: Sligo Rovers
Third: St Pat's
FAI Cup: Derry City
League Cup: St Pat's
Setanta Cup: Dundalk
First Division: Waterford United followed by either Shels or Cork

One to watch: Daryl Kavanagh, for oh so many reasons

think shams will have too much for everybody with rovers just ahead of the rest

could be a good battle for third spot with ourselves, pats and derry fighting it out

is there even relegation this season with the league changing to 12 teams next year?

i fancy us for a cup this year, with no europe this season i think we could have a good cup run

champs : shams
runner up: rovers
3rd: pats
fai cup: dundalk
relegation (if there is any): drogheda

Looking forward to the Friday night football again.

1st - Has got to be Rovers but will have his hands full managing the bigger squad this year!

2nd - Sligo...should push Rovers close.
3rd - Bohs...i think they might surprise a few this year and have nothing to lose

FAI Cup - I'll go for Pats
Setanta Cup - Rovers
Relegation - Drogs

Hoping we have another few European trips to look forward to along with all Irish teams doing well.

Good one, Clown!!

Think we may surprise a few people this season.

For us a healthy mid table finish, possibly a cup final and a first win in the bay of pigs!!

Most importantly though, break even on playing expenses for the year!!
