Apart from when we played them i always had a soft spot for them since the 94 WC when Roy was managing them. How do they keep having a good side year on year. They are like a machine.

They do have one silver lining though courtesy of an outrageous penalty decision in 2017. Wink

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Two beers, two pizzas , two coffees, 100e in Geneva for our game against them. I won't forget that in a hurry.

They are just one of them well oiled sides that are very hard to beat and not too exciting to watch. Have backed them to reach the QF along with Japan, Canada, Croatia and Ecuador so they have my support, despite their expensive average restaurants.

Some big name players having inauspicious starts. Messi, Modric, Lewandowski, De Bruyne.

Argentina just nowhere near good enough. Three of their attacking players with a combined age of around 105. Lautaro Martinez, who's overrated. Two central midfielders who are De Paul, a Serie A journeyman who recently signed for a busted flush Atletico Madrid, and Paredes, a perennial squad player, respectively. Typically robust but ramshackle defense.

Worst game of the tournament there, Cameroon had no interest once they went down by 1

Agree
Couldn't understand them being second favourites

Sentimental betting! People keep expecting Messi to do a maradona and win it on his own.

I for one am surprised that a team managed by Roberto Martinez has regressed.

South Korea v Uruguay is why I love world cups. Two completely different football cultures playing against each other. Expecting a good game here so apologies for the nil nil.

We’ve loads of reasons to dislike them from previous encounters. Their current manager was a pain in the hoop to us when he was playing. This incarnation of their team isn’t as annoying to me anyway.

I don't mind the Swiss, their flag is a big plus too

LOL Knew that was coming.

Yah they're sickenly consistent in qualifying without pulling up too many trees at major tournaments.

Would be way more interest among us neutrals if Italy were there instead of them. Cry

At least they're not as arrogant as the Danes. Really hope they get knocked out at the group stage.

I like the Danes especially after all they went through at last years Euro’s! Locals were sound when we played them in Copenhagen a few years back too.

Pat Fenlon sounds like Butters from South Park if he grew up in The Liberties.
