When did people start adding 'this' and 'that' unnecessarily to the end of observations? 'Good film, this' and 'good goal, that'.Angry

Things being worth a 'listen' or, even worse, 'a watch', can f**k off too. Angry How much of a rush do you have to be to start  shortening 'it's worth watching'?

I know there's an annoying words and phrases thread, but these are way beyond that. LOL

Did he manage to not sniff young children's hair and whisper in their ears this time?

I think it’s usually said by people who have not lived abroad or have much knowledge of political and economic and societal systems abroad.  If they did they would realise Ireland is not alone in the challenges of faces but by and large if you take it that there are roughly 200 countries in the world and Ireland consistently in the top 10 for many categories using various economic and societal metrics.  If we were comparing it on international football terms we are not doing bad. That is not to say there no huge struggles and terrible stories that need to be told and explored and made right.

Our transport system is awful in fairness.

Political corruption is one that annoys me. I hear so many people say “we’re the most corrupt country in the world”. Absolutely laughable.

Yeah I do.  Mrs is always trying to get me to join gaa to make Irish friends.  I have explained to her I wouldn't play gaa at home and just because someone's irish doesn't mean they are sound, I'm just a really good example. Wink

I find that "The mad craic" brigade usually move back to Ireland in their mid to late twenties to marry Sinead and work in their family business. Most that stay after 30 mix in with their local society and only engage with other Irish people on Irish sporting occasions.

was tempted to start a new thread on this but WTAF

johny Ronan plans to sell €960,000 apartment to council for social housing
https://www.irishtimes.com/business/...sing-1.4476385

Firstly surly there's better value out there for tax payers cash and
2nd, why bother trying to better yourself and get a decent job, when this is the incentive
3rd, this will surely just become another Ballymun
and last forget bitcoin and cryptos, time to get back in to Manilla envelope stock

The housing crisis creates a breeding ground for some of the most disingenuous politics in Ireland when it comes to politicians. Politicians will bang the table about the homeless crisis while without an ounce of compunction come over all nimby when their own constituency is involved in terms of potential developments.

1. Just because he's offered them at that price, doesn't mean the council will buy them at that price, or at all. He has to offer them and that why its in the paper.

2. The waiting list is years long, most people genuinely need the housing the most accommodation is much smaller and to a lesser standard than private housing.

3. Every new development has 10% social housing precisely so there is no new Ballymuns and everyone is mixed in together.
