Dublin Bus wish to advise that there is currently a limited bus service operating. This is due to extreme weather and icy road conditions. This is being further worsened by traffic ongestion and slow speeds across the city.

Dublin Bus is making every effort to maintain a level of services but this is proving very difficult due to the worsening road conditions.

A very limited service currently operating on Routes 7, 13, 15, 16, 19(northside Only) 20, 27, 31, 40, 41, 45, 46a, 65, 65b, 77, 102, 128, 140, 145, 150,

A very limited level of service operating to Tallaght, Ballyfermot, Howth, Malahide, Ballymun, Finglas,

No services currently on the Lucan Road, Blanchardstown, Ranelagh, Ballycullen.

Further updates to follow from Dublin Bus once information becomes available.

I was coming home from work in the snow last year and was on the Upper Kennesfort Road heading towards the N4 and a bus came sliding towards me side ways - the bus was all over shop eventually it got stuck in some heavy snow.
If that bus had of hit my car from a side on collision it could have toppled on my car and killed me and possibly others.

Ah come on Citizen.
I saw a bus on O'Connell Street today around lunch time just skidding into a layby by it's own accord. There was nothing the driver could do - he had the steering wheel turned fully right but the bus skidded left. Luckily he was only going a couple of miles an hour. I spoke to a bus driver just after that who said two buses had jack knifed near the north strand and just skidded accross the road with the drivers losing control. Do you realise the consequences of a full double decker bus toppling over?

Fully understandable decision alright. The risks are much bigger than when driving a car.But are the council not using salt on the roads?

I thought we over-ordered by too much on salt and grit last year, no? Meaning we should have plenty?

Service Update: 18.45hours

Taking account of the weather forecast for heavy frost and snow promised for later this evening and tonight and taking account of the effect of the weather conditions experienced today, Dublin Bus has decided to operate all last buses on the list below at 8:00 pm both from the city centre and the suburbs.

Dublin Bus will be making every effort possible to operate a full bus service tomorrow morning but this is dependent on weather and road conditions.

My business is buses, and 99% of our business is night time, Ive grounded the fleet since midnight Saturday resulting in no income.

The reason - I dont want to have to live with the consequnces of one of my buses overturning and killing all occupants, and in such a situation I could well be charged with corporate manslaughter for operating a service in dangerous conditions against the advice of the Gardai etc.

Ye its a disgraceAngry
I know nothing :-)
