True, but on the whole the move has been broadly a negative experience. Like I said, if Moyes had been able to do to Duffy what he has done to Craig Dawson I think there is no question that Duffy would be the first name on our team sheet tonight.

Hard to really say if Moyes could have had an effect on Duffy like Dawson. Particularly as been said, how hard a time Duffy has had personally. But he has massively helped the likes of lingard too so i understand your hypothesising.

I think Moyes picked Dawson as their third cb option over duffy. Ogbonna and Balbuena went in at the start of the season as number one picks.

Dawson also impressed the coaching staff very early at west ham from what i have seen online and they opted for him from the start of the season more or less.

Celtic have been a mess defensively this season and its not just Duffy to blame. But he hasnt been the solid figure expected. A kid, Stephen Welsh is in the starting 11 before him and it wouldnt surprise me if O'Shea finds himself in a similar position tonight.

Remember when Duffy nearly died in that training game? Mad stuff
You asked if I'd be anyone from history, fact or fiction, dead or alive:
I said "I'd be Tony Cascarino, circa 1995"

thought he played well, talking to bazunu all night, I reckon the back three will be seamus o Shea and himself in our next games. I’d say Doherty is more under pressure than Duffy atm.

Never seen this Artie Ziff guy before

Yes , Duffy has been abysmal this year for Celtic - is he immune from this being highlighted?

Hopefully he pulls through it and plays well for someone next season and the form can obviously hopefully return for Ireland as our pool of players (particularly experienced defenders) is very low right now

We need him to find a club that suits him and he can got form because he has been nowhere near either past 8 or so months

Summer loan to big mick at Cardiff would be ideal and get him back on track

He had a good game the other night. I thought it looked like a "back to basics" approach with an understated but highly involved match.

I also think Clark's performances over the two games will also revitalise his chances of getting back into the team.

Well he's either injured, in which case it wouldn't matter as he wasn't going to play anyway or he was dropped from the squad totally in which case it doesn't matter as he'll be leaving there soon enough.

I'm not sure how much Shane Duffy matters these days full stop. The one position where we have decent existing players and plenty of potential coming through. Time to move on from Shane at this stage. He'll do a job for someone in the Championship and will be there if we have another injury crisis at any point.

His height makes him look like a commanding centre half. That perception couldn't be further from reality though. Unless your side is consistently defending the edge of your own box for 90 mins week in week out, Duffy actually offers little to nothing at all.
I just had a look through a few pages of this, Moleman liked to put his bollocks on the line on here,  but I think he got Duffy's number.

Disaster of a signing, most people had high hopes for him going to Celtic

Hopefully he can get his career back on track this summer

I really expected this to have been a highly successful move, where Duffy would have adjusted quickly and been an outstanding player in the league. If anything, it has set his career back, and would have been better off at Brighton.

Is it one more year he has left on his contract? If so, he'd be as well seeing it out and trying to get another loan. His footballing reputation is in the gutter at the moment, if he makes a permanent move it will be on a massively reduced wage. Whereas if he went on loan and found some form he might find he is more valuable as a signing next year and can command a better wage.

He needs to go somewhere with a much more professional setup next time though. You could just see his fitness and attitude regressing more and more as the season went on at Celtic. It was very disappointing that he wasn't able to rise above the general mediocrity at that club.

The team that I placed him at is Cardiff. They have been playing a back 5 under Mick Mack. Duffy would be a fair upgrade on what they have. For obvious reasons I made that link. West Brom under big Sam another option.

What do we think is Duffys chances of getting a PL loan? Clubs like Burnley Palace or even Moyes at WH would he look at Duffy?
