Thoroughly deserved 2 0 win a very professional performance. O'Nien Jones and McGeady the pick of the players. The Johnson juggernaut in full swing.

Well played tonight, they're on a good run and the stats are impressive since Johnson took over. Hell of a tough league to get out of but surely the chances are good now. Wembley final next up.

Three weeks ago Sunderland were seven points behind Pompey with an inferior goal difference. Now we are eight points ahead of them with a superior goal difference. Not looking good for Portsmouth.

O'Brien and Jones out injured, Sanderson and Winchester both Cup-tied, should still have enough to win today. Lee O'Connor not in Tranmere squad so I'm assuming he must be injured.

Truth be told it was a poor performance, certainly wasn't the prettiest but the main thing is we've ended the Wembley curse and won a trophy there, This should give the team great confidence and momentum going forward, Lee Johnson also becomes the first Sunderland manager since Bob Stokoe in 1973 to win at wembley, good times ahead hopefully
