Certainly GUFC were first to almost every ball. One shot each from Gary O'Neill and Paul Doyle in first half and then a five minute spell in the second half with three shots was all UCD could muster.

Robbie Williams was happy to marshall the Galway defence from the back after McCormack's early goal.   UCD try to score therir way out of trouble but we are been found out by teams taking the lead and controlling the game.  In this second series we have drawn with Shels and lost to Galway, leaving still beating low placed sides aswell as overcoming Drogheda Utd, Finn Harps and Longford Town to keep the dominance.

Good win for Galway, great crowd singing throughout the game.

A moderate May of P4 W1 D1 L2, Losing to Galway Utd and Cabinteely brings us back to the chasing pack. The highlight was an 89th minute equaliser by captain Gary O'Neill against Shelbourne at Tolka. Keeping up a healthy recent League record against The Reds in the last four First Division seasons P15 W9 D2 L3.

SSE Airtricity League, Fri. 01st June UCD AFC v Cobh Ramblers, UCD Bowl, ko 19:45
UCD breaking from midfield is always great to watch, Kelly, McClelland, O'Connor, and Molloy bearing down on the visitors goal. With O'Neill and Sloggett mopping up in midfield. Cobh have had a quiet start but they remain a threat to everyone. Cobh reached the Play-offs (third) in 2016 with a half-season performance.

SSE Airtricity League, Fri 08th JUne, UCD AFC v Drogheda Utd, UCD Bowl, ko 19:45
Another top-of-the-table clash, the biggest game of the season so far. United will have played their back match the previous Monday (Shels Away). Both sides looking to win, both sides well able to take the Division by the scruff of the neck.
The match will showcase the quality in the Division with the pleasant atmosphere of leafy UCD Bowl in the June sunshine as a backdrop. #COYBIB

The month of June gained UCD 3 wins v Cobh (H), Drogs (H) and Finn Harps (H)that stretched the lead to seven points but after Longford Town's fine 1-5 away win at UCD Bowl our first league loss since July 28th 2017 v Cabo it brought the First Division leaders back to 4 points.

On Monday 02nd July 2018 UCD lost Georgie Kelly, UCD's record goalscorer for a league season(17 in '17), the current Division's leading scorer (14)to Premier Div leaders and all-round nice guys Dundalk FC.
Yousef 'Yoyo' Mahdy has taken up where Gorgeous Georgie left off, scoring a great break out goal v Shels (1-1) and playing through the team for a 0-3 away win v Wexford before 1 assist and 1 goal v Galway Utd. The forward tempo remains unabated with Winger [B}Neil Farrugia [/B} coming back into the first team after a long-term collar-bone injury. He should be set.

[Spoiler] UCD 2:0 Galway Utd was a great game, Conor Kearns saved a penalty, hooked the ball out from behind him before the side settled in with some fine play from the whole team end with Farrugia down the left another low cross, clip on from Mahdy to Daire O'Connor to fire home. Then playing out from the back Farrugia is set free on the right wings and beautiful inter-play between him and Mahdy. Farrugia draws Galway keeper and slips in Mahdy to tap into empty net.

It's great to watch:

How highly do your rate Georgie Kelly UCDFAN? Do you expect him to do well at Dundalk?

For his pay package and the chance to win things its probably the best move for him but can't see him breaking into the Dundalk first team.

Be likely very hard for him to get a look in given the form Hoban is in anyway. He'll have to make the most of his opportunities when he gets them

@Steve Strewd, yes I do think he will do well. He's already picked a UEFA EL appearance. That's one. With 14 League goals he's in second place behind Pat Hoban. That's two.

In First Division he's dispossessed defenders in the penalty box and turned to score. He always looks for space for himself. AS you say he will have to take his opportunities, some of those will be his own creation rather than just receiving an opportunity.

Looks like that's the league sewn up. Well done Clap

There wasn't many who availed of the offer to show their Aviba stadium ticket for a discount. Perhaps some others still chose to pay the full price.

Thanks for the good wishes, we took another step towards the title but still two more wins to go.  Four League wins in a row, the fixtures have helped slowly ramping up to our closer rivals.  Conor Davis made his debut as substitute and wants to play.

Thought losing Georgie might have slowed ye down. Best team in it in what has been a really competitive season below ye. I know the three coming down last year would have preferred a 12 team PD but it has really helped the first division. Plus the addition of the play offs obviously.

On the offer itself, I didn't expect many to turn up and by that I don't mean any disrespect to UCD or Cabo. Anyone I know who went to the Aviva the other night wouldn't cross the road to watch the League. UCD's offer got me thinking though. Wouldn't it be great if a condition of the FAI sanctioning these matches included a €5 domestic football tax in the ticket price that would go directly to the new company they set up to run the league? Split it between the 20 clubs, or add it to the prize money fund.

46,000 the other night. Thats €230k. Another game today and Liverpool are a bigger draw. €250k. Nearly €500k for the league for little or no work.

Now I doubt this would ever happen for a variety of reasons but it would be a bigger revenue earner than one club trying to make a few quid by running a promotion connected to the match.

Some very good points. Regarding UCD slowing down. The fixture list has suited us.  We have been tested but have had enough against the opposition. Regular bench striker Yousef 'Yoyo' Mahdy' has taken over where Gorgeous Georgie left off.  A fresh winger Neil Farrugia back from injury is like tightly wound spring just released.

yes your other idea about surcharge/tax connects directly with funding from football supporters. It sounds lucrative but it does take from the resources of football followers.  Corporate/White collar or funding from Govt/Public should bring in more resources than taxing each individual.

Some of the football followers at Aviva Stadium this week play the game, possibly they consider themselves players and may not identify with stakeholder fan until they view a greater event like a RoI International or those club matches at Aviva.

I'm no longer a League of Ireland above all other domestic leagues fan. Next week UCD (LOI) play Pike Rovers (LDL) and not non-League Pike Rovers as they have already been described.

This year UCD Leinster Senior League team reached quarters of Intermediate Cup (went out to winners Maynooth Univrsity Town FC) but doesnt get an entry in FAI Senior Cup draw. That's not FAI exclusion, that's precious domestic club concerns with their prestige if a club with lots of playing resources maximises their potential.  It's better to exclude them than have an unfavourable comparison when another club appears
to have two representatives ( two separate squads).
Even in 2013/14 when UCD (LSL) reached the FAI Intermediate Cup Final they were denied a place in the FAI Senior Cup draw.

Why is the active and proven quality UCD (LSL) denied a spot but the passive and priveliged  UCD League of Ireland team gets a spot every year no matter their outcomes in the FAI Cup?

FAI Senior Cup, 2nd Round, Fri 24th August
CIE Ranch v UCD AFC, Greenogue (Peamount Utd) ko 19:45

Greenogue Business Park, Newcastle, Co. Dublin
http://www.peamount.com/directions-to-club/

Tickets- Adults: €10 ; U16/Seniors: FREE

Competitive match in store, CIE Ranch are a little bit further into their preparations for 2018/19 season after Sunday 1B Champions last year. Wins over Letterkenny Rovers and Dublin Bus in previous rounds.
UCD are still breaking from midfield, still scoring goals. The nearest FAI Senior Cup game to Dublin this weekend, a good chance to see a side on the rise hoping to add to their collection of trophies this year, UCD are also in fine form and are happy to show it on a fast-paced pitch.

It'll be a great match, all welcome. #COYBIB
