Why is this guy slugging it out at Championship level? Am I missing something here?

Or is it something about the green jersey?  e.g.: every time Mark Kinsella or Matt Holland played for us beside Roy Keane, they looked like top 8 PL club players.

Possibly. Or because Irish players are unfashionable.

I will likely get abuse for this "Kevin you want every player on the continent" but ultimately if Cullen didn't look further afield for football he'd likely have the same profile now as Egan sluggin it out in the Championship when his ability supercedes that.. Think Egan would be an asset for any team in any League good on the ball too. He was comfortably our best defender yesterday. Coleman and Duffy didn't cover themselves in glory at times.

None from this quarter as you are 100% correct. The home bird mentality of UK and Ireland needs to shift.

In fairness the sky spurts commentator was full of praise for Egan throughout the whole match

No offense intended as I think he's a good poster but it's like Kevin snorts a huge mound of cocaine before he posts.

Appreciate the compliment first off Hotlips. I might seem a bit quirky but can assure you I have never taken a drug in my life beyond drinking alcohol if your particular and count that.

High on enthusiasm for Irish football maybe.

I didn't mean it in a bad way! I just mean you come across as energetic and, as you say, highly enthusiastic.

Egan was excellent. Did very well bringing the ball out of defence, very composed.

Whatever about defensively, Egan is much better on the ball than Maguire.

there was talk in newspapers last week that west ham were looking at him. In reality he went through a real ropey patch start of this season and it showed in Ireland games too but he’s back on form now for both club & country. With his age profile seems like this summer would be ideal time for a switch in clubs. Either way as long as he’s producing for us I don’t mind what league he’s in. As some poster said, Irish players may not be too fashionable!

Awful mistake from Egan in the playoff semi and it looks like a long road back for Sheffield United from here.
