Eight die in Co Donegal collision

Monday, 12 July 2010 07:25

Eight people have died in a two-car crash on the Buncrana to Clonmany in Co Donegal.

One person has survived the crash and is being treated at Letterkenny General Hospital.

The crash happened at around 10.30pm last night.

A car first collided with another vehicle but no one was injured and it travelled on towards Buncrana and was involved in a second collision a few hundred yards later and all eight were killed.

The road is expected to remain sealed-off for some time.

Regular thing to happen in remote areas like that. There's no public transport at all to go out to a pub so these young lads all pile into one car. Stupid I know but that's the way it is out there.

You wont be too far wrong here Mickey. That combined with speeding, not to mention overloaded car and bad road conditions. Accidents happen everywhere, but Donegal gets an awful lot of them, per head it must be more than any other county. RIP all who lost their lives.
