When should a timing chain be changed? I heard 100k kilometres once, I'm at 74k now.

Should never have to be replaced unless its giving trouble. As I said, once the oil is changed regularly then the chain and tensioner s should last as long as the car.

Depends on the car, Alot of seat's and mercs give chain trouble,better to change them at 80-100k rather than having to drive home in limp mode from the arsehole of nowhere.

Gave me 2 problems,both symptoms add up
1.crankshaft position sensorA
2.ERG valve
What ye reckon,dodged a bullet?
Waiting for a parts price from Opel Sandyford
Mate reckons he could fit them handy...

Yeah sounds about right, would definitely cause hard starting, sure wait n see what price you get.

Yeah but the cheap ones aren't very reliable. A decent one a biggish garage would have could cost 10k +

Following on from the nct where i was told i need a new tyre i went to get 1 on friday, and low and behold i need 2 new front tyres and the tracking done, i have seen the inside of the tyres and how the f**k the stupid coonts in the test centre missed this is a mystery there is literally lumps hanging off the inside of both tyres and worn down to the inner thread, stupid fcking coonts

any you lads give me a ball park price for getting the tracking done

What was the wheel alignment (side slip) reading on the top right of the NCT report? For abnormal tyre wear ie yours they can only fail it if the cord is showing, I'd imagine it wasn't on the day Daithi.
