Seems to play well in that middle 3 with Grealish and McGinn and the holding Mid in behind them.
Wish we could do something similar in next 2 games

Feel like Conor escaped his share of the criticism for yesterday’s disgraceful performance, every time he plays it’s as if he is spends the game hiding

How is this lad so consistent at club level constantly scoring goals and getting assists yet it hasn't happened for him with Ireland yet

I hope Kenny utilises him and gives him a free creative role because he is a very good player

For the simple reason he gets the chance to play the ball has players to give the hall to up the field and also get in from .
The way we went about our business at the start of the second half was made for him but was sadly on the bench couldn’t believe he wasn’t brought on

when I see him in the flesh in the Aviva I dont see him hiding.  I see him take up good positions but he doesn't get the ball played to him

goal again today for Hourihane after going very close with 2 free kicks before that. If only we could find him in space outside the box like Villa do. He is never too far away with his shooting and can deliver some great crosses.

Hourihane had a class game today.. had 2 great free kicks saved and then a goal disallowed, goal was drilled from the edge of the box off a pullback but keeper was deemed to have been fouled in the build up. He wasnt, should have stood.

Had a near identical chance in the second half that was saved too..

Completely different play with a competent midfield partner and a winger that can take on his man and cross.

Are you suggesting that we should be playing football players that can play football?

Absolutely looked a different man. Should have had his goal as i didnt see any real foul on the keeper. Should have buried that one in the 2nd half. Villa's good form has coincided with his return to the team.  Dragged down when playing in the green. All our players are reduced to chasing shadows.

Good player
Has done well in the premier league

Is keeping Douglas Luiz out of the team who we were all raving about in the summer at the Toulon tournament

I watched the full match yesterday and Conor did not have a class game as you put it, he was completely anonymous in midfield, game passed him by big time, Brighton allowed through our midfield with ease and a lot of that was with 10 men, I do like Conor but he’s a passenger in so many games, got a lovely left foot and his goal should have stood.

It wasn’t just Conor that had a poor game yesterday.

I’ll be surprised if he starts against City and Liverpool.

The highlights must have completely misrepresented him so.

Highlights notoriously misrepresent player performance. You could probably cut some highlights together and make mcclean look good vs Georgia

Hourihane gets some criticism on here for an Irish man who’s actually in form and playing well the last few seasons

To be fair, he hasnt always started for villa in the championship and in the premier league. He undoubtedly has a left foot like a traction engine but I agree that he has a habit of disappearing in games for long periods.

He's technically good and if he could impose himself more in games especially when his team aren't playing well he would be very good.
