f**king hell! It is all or nothing on here! He hasn't been great for Villa, has one good game and he is back in contention to start. Delighted for him though, hopefully he can really kick-on and have a good season now.

Watching brief highlights on Youtube and they were three fine goals - he had a great game.

We don't have many (any) banging in and setting up goals at that level. If he kept that going why wouldn't he be in contention to start? Edited by t_rAndy - 19 Aug 2017 at 8:00pm |

Yes, if he keeps it going for much more than a game and a half and then takes his chance in future friendlies. His performances for Ireland have been very poor so far, a few good games for his club won't change that.

Was at the game and he was sensational. Great goals. If he keeps playing like that for Villa and carries on in the same vein for Ireland I will be the happiest woman on the island.
Class act today as we finally saw the player we thought we'd signed. |

Cementing his spot for sure. Was at the heart of everything the Villans created today. |

Didn't see the goals, did they come from set pieces? His delivery and set pieces are quality and can even get past the first man from a corner. Edited by Guf10 - 20 Aug 2017 at 11:11am |

Hogan could have a tough time getting back in Villa's team, that striker looks outstanding.

Yah noticed that alright. Looks too good for the championship but from the small bits I've seen it though looked like Villa caught Norwich on a few breaks as he was nearly one on one with their centre backs and he had an awful lot of space. You'd probably have to see the full match as the highlights can be a bit misleading. That said he looked very impressive. Great control and serious speed on him.

That's what made the difference yesterday. None of Hogan, Agbonlahor or Kodijia are particularly adept at holding the up the ball or linking play - that isn't their game. Davis is, and Hourihane reaped the benefits. The first Villa midfielder to score a hat-trick since David Platt against Spurs in 1991, apparently. It seems Brighton were enquiring about Hourihane before his performance yesterday. I can't see Villa letting him leave now. Edited by NewtNewbie - 20 Aug 2017 at 12:55pm |
