We might be able to start putting together a decent over 35's international team

yeah they are really bagging the goals... unfortunately murphy had a level against the 2nd 3rd ties teams... and he couldn't control a ball fired at him at 100mph

Balls.ie Had an article after the Liam Miller match with something similar players who could still do a job or something quite embarrassing

Murphy has always been quick, he just has no acceleration. He needs a real good run to build it up. I wonder could he be coaxed out of retirement? He would be a really useful option.

Daryl is an absolute monster of a man in full flight. When he played LOI he was a half yard quicker than anyone else in the league but when he went to Sunderland he was a half yard slower. He was never quick off the mark which is understandable given his frame and build but I can assure you when he starts motoring he’s like a big, fast bulldozer.

He'd still be O'Neill's first choice, that's for sure.

Goal and assist for Daryl today. I wonder is there a chance Mick will try to get him out of retirement? He's on record as being a big fan of him from their time at Ipswich.

I'm not giving an opinion as to whether it's the right or wrong thing to do, I'm merely floating it as a possibility given their long association.

I wouldn’t be against it at all! McGoldrick and Murphy partnership worked wonders at Ipswich

In fairness the Leeds defence made it easier for him yesterday.

Mick should see if Murphy would be interested in sticking around as a standby option like Glenn Whelan.
He probably doesn't make our squad when everyone is fit (especially if Bamford comes on board). But can still offer something. We've been quite unlucky with injuries lately and I'd have no issues with Murphy coming into the team to hold up the play away to the bigger teams in the group if needed. |

As I suspected, Mick has asked Murphy to come out of retirement

Think he'd offer more than Walters at this stage if we need a battering ram....get him back for a year would do no harm
