Where's the cash coming from? Fenlon full time?

Edit: Actually, are any of them fulltime?

Shane O'Connor has signed from Cobh Ramblers. He's going part time as he turned down Rovers and Pats over their full time training stance.

Shane o'connor was at Rovers for about a month under Kenny. There is literally zero chance he would get another chance after the way he carried on.

This is good news for the league overall, we need strong well supported regional teams and Waterford are the best option from the 1st Division. Hopefully their model is sustainable.

Last thing the league needs now is ucd, Wexford or Shiels coming back up

For a supposed exciting project which it may turn out to be Alan Matthews is hardly an inspired choice as manager is he? Average. Whats the thoughts of waterford supporters on him.

It's Alan Reynolds who is an ex Waterford United legend, he's a Waterford man and has also been working as a regional development officer for the FAI for a good chunk of the last number of years.

Superb appointment imo, nothing better than to get a local boy in to help get the numbers back through the turnstiles.

Only just realized that he managed Waterford United to the FAI Cup Final in 2004 as player manager!

It's the LOI First Division with all due respect they've attracted one of the biggest name in Irish Football Management Pat Fenlon to be their director who will obviously have a massive say in the direction the club is going, give them some credit.

Jury would be out on him around here too, far more so than Fenlon (who like everyone in the LOI would have his share of detractors). Don't get me wrong, Rennie does have plenty local support, but there are a good few around with little time for him. To be honest, it looks like a bit of a hedged bet to me, if the results aren't going the way they should, given that it looks like we have a far bigger budget than anything we have had in the last 5 years, they already have the experienced fella in an 'upstairs' position to take over straight away.

Lee Power played with Fenlon for the Ireland U21 team years ago, he might know him to a degree, but you would imagine Rennie is there on someone else's recommendation (Fenlon's or even the FAI's ) so he will have to hit the ground running.

I would imagine it is little more than trying to instill a local flavour to the proceedings, I doubt Fenlon is there to just be DOF and will be running the football side of it. I really never liked the guy, even when he played for City, a horrible, self-serving, arrogant thug. Never was the nickname 'rat' more appropriate.

Huge money being pumped in according to local sources but continued investment is contingent on promotion.
The alternative view is that given the huge amount of talent that Waterford has traditionally produced & continues to do so given the fact that the current FAI under 15 & 16 players of the year are Waterford lads then Power is in for the long term .
