The Glass House

Mystery/thriller that you've probably never heard of because it had the misfortune of being released on the heels of 9/11.

A brother and sister are adopted by a well heeled couple, friends of their parents, after the latters tragic death in a car crash.

At first they are enamoured by their new surroundings and the trappings of their newfound wealth, but gradually they discover all is not as it seems and their adoptive parents love and support is just a facade.

The older sister begins to clash with her new folks and quickly unravels a web of deceit that may link her birth parents death to her adoptive father.

Moves along with a frenetic pace and maintains intrigue and tension through the duration, ably carried by Leelee Sobieski as the spry protagonist and Michael O'Neill lookalike Stellan Skarsgard as the antagonist.

It's also very nice to look at, and at a first glance, you'd think it was a more modern movie.

I came into this knowing very little but, I have to say, it was quite good.

Trivia: Stellan Skarsgard is the father of the guy from True Blood, and also the guy who plays Pennywise the clown in the new, and sh*t, Stephen King remake.

Not trying to sound smart here but given their surnames are Skarsgard would that not have been a major clue??

He's also the father of Gustaf Skarsgard  who plays Floki in Vikings

I think I used to get them mixed up with Peter Sarsgaard, who is also an accomplished actor.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer - an unusual movie if there ever was one. Good watch all the same.

Watched the new spiderman last week. It's what you expect to be fair. Willem Dafoe was the highlight of it for me.

Ye should've watched the trailer first. That's how I made my decision not to watch it.

From the same director of Vice, which was interminable.

I actually enjoyed it. It wasn't a serious movie, and was more of a tongue-in-cheek, pisstake kind of film which I enjoyed.

I made it to 45 minutes before giving up on it.

Absolutely woeful for such a star studded cast.
