Given his comments I assume he gave it 10/10 and that the "-" was meant as a hyphen as opposed to a minus. |

The Dissident - 8/10.
Documentary from Bryan Fogel (Icarus) about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. Excellent.

Synecdoche, New York One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Only stuck with it because I'm a Philip Seymour Hoffman fan. A pretentious, self-indulgent mess. 12 Angry Men (1997) Thought I'd watch this because it was directed by William Friedkin and has an all-star cast including Jack Lemmon, George C. Scott and James Gandolfini, but it was an almost verbatim remake of the original. Disappointingly, it fails to add a modern spin on a classic. |

Oscars 2021
The Father - Anthony Hopkins delivers again. For anybody who has experienced dementia in the family this movie will stay with you. Very well done. 7/10 The trail of the Chicago 7 - I was expecting something more serious but this was a lighthearted take on a courtroom drama. Easy to watch. 7/10

Easy to watch movie but they really are just rehashing Taken / John Wick / The Equalizer etc So for me it only gets a 6/10 |

Watched a few of the other Oscar nominated movies recently as well. Promising Young Woman - Decent dark comedy revenge thriller -Carey Mulligan is very good in the main role 7/10 Nomadland - Not a whole lot happens in this, it's watchable, visually pleasing and Frances McDormand is great as ever but don't really know why it won best movie 6/10 Sound of Metal - Really enjoyed this, as a fan of metal music I thought the whole movie would be feature metal but it was more about the main character coming to terms and learning to live with losing his hearing, Riz Ahmed is excellent in the lead role as is Paul Raci as his mentor, the sound editing is brilliant also 9/10

Yes the original is an absolute classic and I watch it at least once a year. Cant understand why they try to re-make classics !!

Got an email from Cineworld yesterday saying 'we're reopening'
Got too excitied before realising it's for their branches in the UK. Kind of forget that you can rent films on youtube and that. When Wonder Woman 2 came out at Christmas Rakuten(?) were renting it for €18. Would ya really be bothered spending that much?

I said to my girlfriend on Saturday, do you want to watch this film Nobody it has 2 x 10 star reviews on ybig. 40 minutes later after some dumb bus fight scene, I concluded that YBIG isn't the best place to get reviews. If you like McGyver and hundreds of baddies that shoot but can never hit their target this movie is for you oh and assassin grandpas as well. One the plus side I did get amused by thinking Johnny Logan was the signer for a while. The film is completely tongue in cheek and there is a good sound track but i'd only be giving it a 5/10
