Very good film. I don't think I'd call it a horror though. More of a mystery drama, maybe.

Whiplash - 8/10

One of those popular movies that has been out a while but I hadn't seen it. Thought Simmons was excellent in this, as he is in a lot of his movies. The final performance is great to watch.

Definitely recommend it.

Same. I didn’t think it would be my thing but I was gripped throughout. I f**king detest jazz too, particularly rich white ****s playing it, but forgot about that for the duration of it!

Watched this last Friday because of recommendations on this thread and taught it was great. Even my GF who I could tell during it was struggling to get into it enjoyed it by the end but she couldn't really tell why.

John Wick 3.

Not much of a story but the action is great in this. Similar to the first 2, you have to laugh at some of the deaths.
John is on the run after a hit has been put on his head after he killed someone he shouldn't have. That's basically the first 40 minutes.
When a film franchise tries to go bigger they always seem to go 'international'. He goes to Casablanca and meets Hallie Berry who still looks deadly.
Talk of higher powers and 'The high table' who are the real people who run the underworld. All the talk of that is probably leading to JW4 which was just announced last week.

7/10

For those of you that haven't seen it, "You Were Never Really Here" is on Film 4 at 11:20 tonight. Excellent indie thriller with Joaquin Phoenix.

I was out at the new Maradona documentary earlier. It's an excellent watch that deals mainly with the period that he was at Napoli. The impact he had on the club and the city was incredible. Unfortunately the impact that the city had on him, off the pitch, was not quite so positive. Anyway, I highly recommend it.

On another note, The Raid is on Film 4 on Saturday morning at 12:50am. For those of you that haven't seen it, it's an all out martial arts/action movie from Indonesia. Absolutely brilliant film.

Rocketman
Biopic about Elton John.
I enjoyed this, good story and use of his songs in the film. Hard to tell what is fact and fiction though in these Hollywood films, especially since Eltons husband was one of the producers.

Maradona
His career was just at the end when I started taking an interest in football as a kid so I only knew of him for the drugs.
Very good that it sets up what the city is like more then Maradona.
Same director as Senna and Amy which were also very good.

Xmen: Dark Phoenix
The story of how Jean Grey becomes the Phoenix.
Nothing amazing about it. The original prequel (first class) was still the best one.
Also the fact that it's a prequel.......... Spoiler ahead.

They kill off Raven and by the looks of it Jean Grey. What's that about?
Considering they were both characters in the original X -Men movie in 2000 how were they killed off?
I was expecting Raven to come back at some point, didn't make sense to me.

The trailer for Rocket Man make it look absolutely awful, possibly even worse than the Freddie Mercury one. He looks absolutely nothing like Elton John for a start! I assume the first line is, ‘tonight Matthew, I am going to be Elton John’.

I'm intrigued by the Elton John film, I wouldn't call myself the the biggest fan but from what I've read he has led a mad life.

I'll slightly agree with Pre Madonna's assessment though he looks more like Timmy Mallet then Elton John.

The Maradona one is on my list too

Really enjoyed Rocketman without ever being a big fan of his music. Had no idea it was a half musical.

They really only scratched the surface and blemmed through significant points in his life. But highly enjoyable.

Generally Netflix movies I find rubbish.
Their series or documentaries are good but the films tend to be awful.

Suppose back in the day you had straight to video B movies.
I'd still be a bit too young to remember them but wasn't that the point of them, that they knew they were slightly rubbish? Then turned into cult status with 'so bad they are good'.

Yeah, although I thought 'I Am Mother' was decent enough. Maybe that's because I had very low expectations for it though.
