what do people think of gilardino as top scorer? 33/1, in a group with paraguay, new zealand and slovakia. gauranteed a fair few goals. he got a hat-trick in qualifying against cyprus, scored against us, scored 15 goals for fiorentina this season. i think he could be a dark horse....and they're very good odds since it will more than likely be himself and either di natale or rossi up front.
My dream has always been to play for the Republic of Ireland - James McClean.

Don't know how people are so quick to disregard Argentina. Any team with Aguero, Higuain, Tevez and Messi has to be taken seriously, despite their form in the qualifiers. That's not including Milito either. I know they can't all play but they have serious attacking quality. Mascherano and Cambiasso could do a job holding in the middle.

Nice double going in Paddy Power a while back: Spain to left WC and Messi top goalscorer 66/1.
67% points to games ratio at the last Euro's (better than Portugal's)

Cambiaso wasn't picked for the squad, which underlines why most people think they have no hope with a fat fool in charge

Brazil are the only team to win the World Cup outside of their continent and ironically there strongest point is defence

Goalkeepers: Julio Cesar (Inter Milan), Gomes (Tottenham Hotspur), Victor (Gremio)

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Alex (Chelsea), Juan (AS Roma), Lucio (Bayern Munich), Luisao (Benfica), Kleber (Internacional), Andre Santos (Corinthians).

My mistake - just assumed he would be in there. Well he should be there, as should Zanetti.

I haven't seen much of Argentina from their qualifying - have heard only bad things. But i have seen a lot of Messi, Tevez and Higuain who have scored 34, 23 and 27 goals respectively in their leagues, which happen to be the two top leagues in the world. If they click at all they can go very far.

Agreed on the Brazil front. The likes of Maicon and Lucio are tough as fook at the back. And their midfielders and strikers are, well Brazilian.

Cant look much further than David Villa at 10 to 1 . .

His record for every team he has played for is incredible. Just signed for Barca so he is gonna really enjoy his world cup. . On top of that Spain play Chile, Honduras and Switzerland in the groups . They will probably score about 15 goals in that group . .

Thats why im gonna back them Bob. They always create bundles of chances up front but this year they look solid at the back as well. . .

Holland is good bet at 12/1, might do them along with either spain or brazil. Have also don van persie at 25/1 for top scorer and anelka as good outside bet at 40/1.

This is an interesting market, to reach the semi finals. There is always one good dark horse that makes the semi's, my tip would be Serbia .

Going to go for Holland. Might have a flutter on ze Germans as well at 14/1 always seem to do well in Major tournaments no matter how  they've played in the run up to a tournament.
