The greatest film ever made!

Chumbawamba- Enough is Enough please listen!!

Brassed Off is more poignant but Trainspotting is the best British film ever made for the impact/soundtrack/casting/direction/cinematography/dialogue and so on and so on. It's flawless.

I've never watched shallow grave properly but it gets a lot of recognition and came out a few years before Trainspotting. Must watch it at some stage.

Top 3 British films:

1. Trainspotting  - The best and has everything you'd want in a film.
2. Withnail & I    - Most replay ability & probably the most fun.
3. Brassed Off    - Most poignant.

Enough is Enough is a decent tune. Hadn't heard that before. Thumbs Up
Saturday Night Sunday Morning - Get Carter - Room at the Top - Raining Stones - Secrets and Lies. A few of my favourite Brit films...lots  more from Loach and Leigh worth watching, without mentioning the late 50s early 60s new wave scene

Saturday Night, etc., is my favourite book. A great film, but it will never leave the same mark on me as Brassed Off. Brassed off has shaped my politics for 20 odd years, although,  as herself correctly says, I may have wanted them shaped.

Boys from the Black Stuff left a similar mark. Not that it matters anymore. We lost. The socialists won the arts and the Tories have won the earth, they always f**king had it.

just driven back from Mayo, listening to John Kelly’s show on lyric fm, he’s a mad f**ker but my god he picks great tunes. Standout was a jazz organ trio(!!) and their version of careless whisper, brilliant. Reminded me of when he used do a show on radio Ireland years back, the eclectic ballroom he called it, marvellous radio.

I might hear it and feel  differently,  but a jazz organ trio covering 'Careless Whisper' sounds like the sort of thing that could make a good man turn bad.

I have since listened to it and am now of the opinion it may be responsible for at least one mass shooting.
