By coincidence last night I stumbled across a vid on YouTube of a whistle test edition from the mid 80s featuring a visit to Dublin which included an interview with Paul Cleary, and The Blades performing Downmarket. Worth a watch for the nostalgia if anything..

To be fair to them, I quite liked 'Hot Fuss' when it came out. I was much younger though. An ex dragged me to see them in Lansdowne Road around that time and was amazed at how bad his singing was. He was atrocious. He made Ian Brown sound like  Aretha Franklin.

Just started his book the other day, although I got distracted by others in the meantime. It's fair to say there are a few stretchers in it, but I can tell it's going to be enjoyable.

That 'Saturnalia' is a very decent album. It tails off a bit at the end, but there are some great tracks. Afghan Whigs, like Lanegan's band, were two of the more creative and interesting bands from the grunge scene. It's probably even a bit unfair to shove the Whigs in with it.
