Robbie Keane.

He gets a lot of stick off some of the fans whether justified or not, and we can probably all agree he can be frustrating at times. And maybe his press conferences aren't the most charismatic.

But on Wednesday night he was immense, he was everywhere, his finish was sublime. He lead from the front with his attitude.

I'd much prefer to talk about our captain then theirs.

he was magnificent, gave it everything, a real captain's performance, probably his best performance ever for club or country...and he's not the only one it could be said for.

proud to say he's ours!

Agree 100%. In my opinion he is one of the most frustrating players to watch he can drift in and out of games and drives me mad with his moaning etc but he can always pop up and get us a goal at the end of the day. On wed night he was fantastic and that rarely comes out of my mouth with regard to Robbie! He worked so hard and gave it his all for Ireland

Keane is a legend for Ireland. He had a brief period under Staundon when he was tactically without discipline.  Under Trap he has been top class and against France he was immense.  The amount of goals he has scored is unreal and has scored against.

Spain
Yugoslavia
Germany
Italy
France
Holland

and all of them were competitive goals and vital goals except the Holland one.

The man is an absolute HERO. 41 goals and people still give him stick. His workrate over the two legs was just unreal. I was in Dunne's corner for the captaincy but I think robbies proved himself. Absolute LEGEND!!

robbies would have to be player of the campaign for me he scored some vital goals was it 6 or 7 in total this time and really led from the top, last campaign under stan he lost his way and got alot of stick every game, he never stops running and is a good example for young lads growing up, playing up front is not all about scoring goals his work when we dont have the ball is unreal at times the amount of chasing he does, berbatov would learn a thing or two from watching him in fairness

And pray to shivering prayer, until

You have dried the marrow from the bone.

i think keane was a huge contributor to the berbatov at spurs, he doesn't look the same player at united.

Echo all the above lads and having been lucky to meet and talk with the chap, I can also say he is a very nice lad.   The fookers I heard giving him stick when we lost to France in Croker made me wanna spit on them.

Take a bow Robbie, wonderful campaign, go get the 50 goals son.

completely agree that he has been brilliant for us this campaign.
I hope it's remembered when he hits a bad patch for us cos I think it's disgraceful how quickly many of the fans in Croker turn on him, even if he can be frustrating to watch.
I had a Macedonia!

Yep agree with all above, there are some total arseholes out there who love to give him stick for some resason, 'that keane is only a w**ker' etc, where they get this from i really dont know, ye just know they are not real fans at all. Keane has been unbelievable for us over the years and if he wasnt there id love to know who would have taken his place.

keane is class. he will be at the next world cup. fair enough hel be older and mightnt be startin but what a class player to definately come of the bench. iv no idea who will be startin up front in four years time but imagine you needed an impact sub to come of the bench and bag a late goal.. perfect

Couldn't agree with this more. I really do think Keane had an impact on berba at spurs, he made it so much easier for him than the players at united are
