Hypothetically speaking, if the North was to pull off the impossible tonight and qualify would anyone support them?

Granted a large portion of their fans are scumbags, however they are still Irish and I personally would have loved to see it…

I'd give them as much support as i'd give Montenegro.

Just my opinion but they have nothing to do with me as an Irishman

I would not support them and I would ( and have done) cheer for England to beat them.

To be honest brianie i'd be supporting England if that were to happen, considering my connection to the place.

i have no connection to england other than i used to live there which actually makes you even more anti- the national team but i would still cheer for them before norn iron.

From a footballing point of view, i'd be the first to congratulate NI if they did qualify. That would be a fantastic achivement for a small country like thiers. But as i say, thier team has nothing to do with me so i wouldnt be supporting them.

Although living in London, I originate from the North and several mates back there (N.Irish supporters) often support the South when they play.

My point being, granted the majority of the North supporters are scumbags, however I don’t really buy into all that bigoted bollox, I’d support the North for the simple fact that we’re not there, and I’d rather support men from my own country (albeit a different religious persuasion) that support someone else…

Are you lot honestly saying you weren’t delighted to see the English beat in Belfast?

No to be honest, it really didnt bother me at all. I was just devastated that night that Ireland lost to France. To be fair, your circumstances are somewhat different to mine regarding this debate.

I was gutted , made even worse by all my gloating scots mates , i cannot stand to see them winning , when i was a kid we all cheered for them but the night we played in windsor park changed my attitude to them.

Agree Roger, I think this match defo changed a lot of Republic supporters attitude towards the Norn Iron team (towards supporters, not really the players)!

Yes I'd have been sympathetic to them up till Nov 93 when Bingham and Tommy Wright and the rest showed their true colours.  Hope they win tonight but that Sweden get an injury time goal to sicken them.
