Having recently moved in nearby to Firhouse - I'd have a look at how you'd get to work everyday, the bus service in the area is at best ok, I'd get the 65b sometimes and it gets held up a lot in Templogue, Rathgar and Portobello. It's only 10k to the city centre but I've sat on the bus for 90 mins doing that journey in rush hour.

I cycle to work now instead, I'd hate to have to rely on the bus, I'd be leaving at 7 every morning if I did.

Other than that Firhouse is a nice enough area from what I've seen of it so far. Having the M50 so close comes in more use that you'd think.

Feck, I work in Ballsbridge, sounds like a nightmare to get in on the bus.

Cheers for the reply!

Ballsbridge is a pretty poxy location to get to from Firhouse alright. Fitzinho is right about cycling, it's a good option. Your company should give you access to the bike to work scheme.

Just as well you posted up Podge a trek and half to get to work might not be worth it.

It's a grand downhil cycle on the way, but f**k it'd be torture on the way back.

Unles you invest in a dumb and dumber mobile instead

It's a good long stint on the bus if he needs to be in work any time around rush hour though

Wouldn't mind somewhere like Firhouse/Ballycullen myself but for the other half it's still too close to my mam.

Lived in apartment right beside Super Valu for 5 years until I'd met Mrs FW. Was very happy there. Summer sees teenagers meeting on the green at the church but while some complained about them they never bothered me.

Grand spot Podge.

Did that exact walk from Rathmines to Ballsbridge for a couple of years, it's was about 35 mins for me. Lovely walk though down the Clyde road.

It's a nice cycle from Firhouse/Knocklyon in towards Rathmines, prob another 10 mins down to Ballsbridge from there, you'd need a shower at the other end though probably so check if you're catered for in that regard in work.
