I see 'Memento' was added to Netflix recently. Won't give a review (one of those 'the less you know the better' ones) but would highly recommend it - one of Christopher Nolan's earlier films and very unique.

Went to see bullet train in the pictures.
First film in awhile in the cinema. It was about a 5/10. Could see why teenager would love it, was good action but was a bit far fetched and the attempt at witty comedy fell on deaf ears apart from one or two scenes. But as new movies go, was just about watchable.

Was only saying this down the pub on the weekend, theres been less and less really top class movies being released these days. Between the shift to streaming / TV shows and the whole comic world taking over cinema we probably only get one or two quality 7/8/9 out 10 films. Most things these days are as you said just about passable, 4/5/6 out of 10s at best. The only 2 decent films I've seen released this year was Top Gun an The Batman.

Haven't gotten to the cinema recently since becoming a dad but Dundrum have a pre crawlers viewing a couple of days during the week early in the morning.
I just wanted to be back in the cinema again so went to see Bullet Train. Had only seen the trailer a couple of times and looked interesting. It was far fetched, bunch of assassins on a train, so of course it was going to be over the top. And that's why some people (me) want to see that kind of stuff in the cinema. I liked the different characters and their back stories. Brad Pitt had good comedy timing. And the director also did Deadpool 2, so shows he can do a good action movie. He also used to be Brad Pitts stunt double. As for bringing a baby to the cinema it wasn't that bad. Was pretty empty so any crying baby was in the distance. Herself just had a feed at the start and slept for the whole thing. Would definitely go again.

Can go months without seeing a movie I'm interested in released on Netflix so I'll look forward to this. Joe Pantoliano is a bonus.

Went to see Top Gun in Tallaght on Monday night. First time in the cinema since seeing Die Hard at Christmas 2020 and first time seeing a new release since The Maze I think. I thought prices would go up with Movies@ taking over Tallaght but €14 to see it in the VIP screen. I think I saw only €6 for a ticket in a regular screen. Great value.

Watched "Prey" last night on Disneyplus, easily the best Predator sequel/prequel since the original film with Arnie. No over the top story line, acting or CGI, very little dialogue or relevant dialogue anyway, they just let the characters do their talking on screen. Its a very back to basics flick that captured everything that was so good about the original film with a new take on the series. Really enjoyed it.

Heard from someone else that it's edited like a Marvel movie with all the fast cuts and I have no interest in seeing a woke Predator movie/Avengers hybrid TBH.

You heard wrong then cause there no fast cuts and it bares no resemblance in any way shape or form to a marvel film or franchisee. Theres also nothing woke about it, its set in the 1700s!

Yeah only 6 quid. Half price of Dundrum. Was thinking they might be just introductory prices but the place is half empty most of the time based on what I am hearing so not sure price increase will be justified at this time. |

Analyze This - Generic comedy in the same vein as loads of late 90s/early 00s comedies. Billy Crystal coasts and Robert De Niro gurns. I'm a big fan of De Niro and the mob movie genre but I'd rather just watch Goodfellas or Casino for the twentieth time TBH. A couple of truly hilarious scenes but they're too few and far apart to warrant a recommendation. Joe Viterelli is a standout as De Niro's #2. Watch Meet the Parents instead if you're looking for a well-directed De Niro comedy that doesn't lag and offers quickfire laughs and genuine heart.
South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut - Have watched all the episodes up to around season 10 when it started jumping the shark countless times but have neglected this on rewatches. Hilarious. Satan and Saddam's sordid relationship is always a treat and it has some cracking musical diversions to break things up. 8 Mile - Dacent watch. Have it on in the background while you're doing something else. You probably won't miss anything too important. Has a great soundtrack and Eminem puts in a good shift in his onscreen debut. Probably doesn't have any rewatch value being honest. |

Strange that it never got a cinema release as I think it would have been brilliant on the large screen plus its way better than any of the sh*te films released this year.
