An English housemate made me watch this years ago because he loved it. It was god awful.
But there is a documentary about the making of this film and the set backs, and how the director thought he was going to be the next Spielberg. He wasn't shy of confidence. That documentary was probably better than the actual film itself.

I always thought Boondock Saints was more a niche cult film than actually well regarded by critics etc. I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously in any way.

Unfortunate to watch the remake of Papillon. A serious f**king insult to the original. Abominable.

Can't stand Rami Malek

The original is a must see. An incredible epic! Steve McQueen defines the balls in it.
The remake takes short cuts, cuts the story apart and leaves ignores scenes in the original. Watch it Horse and come back to me.

The Halloween film series is just up on Netflix so I'm doing a re-watch. You have to hand it to Michael Myers, he's a single minded lad. Fierce resilient too.

Watched The Guilty on Netflix last night. Kinda had a Phonebooth vibe to it. The whole move is filemd in one location where a 911 operator (Jake Gyllenhall) recieves a 911 all and coordinates the responses through calls to victims, perpetrators, police, etc. Well put together story but a bit heavy for a Saturday night.
3.5/5

Had no idea that was remade (The Guilty.)
The Danish one is only a few years old, could be on Netflix as well actually. Brilliant, brilliant film

I thought The Many Saints of Newark was pretty poor. I've very little to recommend about it.

Sicario
Very good, despite the heavy-handed political undertones. Beautiful cinematography, moves along at a nice pace, and has some great action scenes.

Dunno about that. I thought the sequel was poor enough, especially when compared to the first one.

Not to the standard of the original but still found it entertaining. Not as gritty as the original.
Been a few years. I should give them both another spin.

I do a movie night with my nephew (23 years old) every couple of weeks. Given his age it obviously makes sense, but it sometimes staggers me the movies that he hasn't seen. For example, last week I had him over for his first watch of Die Hard. I think it'll be a double feature this week with You Were Never Really Here and The French Connection.

Yeah Dune was ok. It was way too long. 1.5 or 2 hours would have been enough easy.
