Three billboards outside ebbing missouri Some great scenes but doesn't knit together.
McDonagh needs to get some help with these scripts as they lack any heart or compassion. Going by this movie it appears to be ok to bespercch a whole religion based on the actions of a few. I'm a Catholic and I have a relations in the priesthood and to make broad statements about priests and to compare them to murderous gangs in LA is a cheap shot. That whole scene was out of place in the movie. I though In Bruges was much more deserving of praise that this. Edited by benboview - 13 Feb 2018 at 3:10am |

I agree completely, it was very unfair on the L.A. gangs who have no history of covering up paedophilia.

Came across this on tv the weekend, had heard the story but never knew there was a film made about it. Michael Bay directed but apparently it didn't do well when released. The main battle scene was very rushed and hard to follow. Enjoyed it but they could've done such a better job with it 3/5

This has actually irked me a bit and not just because of your attempt at spelling besmirch or your bizarre support of the Catholic Church, more your complete inability to understand basic plotlines. McDormand's character is, or was before the death of her daughter, a woman of some religious conviction. Enough, it would seem, for the local priest to be able to freely walk into her home and wait for her. This, of course, is actually a far bigger besmirch, and incredibly accurate, dig at the RCC as it shows they can go around telling their parishioners, and everybody else, what to do. The response, which you took umbrage with, isn't the writer just having a wayward swing at the RCC, but an angry character who has lost her faith and is angry with the world and uses a damning and amusing analogy to tell the priest to do one. I am not sure if any films are suitable for you if you feel that everything a character says in a script are taken as indicative of the film as a whole. It may well be, but all that is relevant is that it fitted the narrative of te film, which I felt it did. It was angry, poignant and darkly funny, which is the entire point of the thing. The only scene that seemed irrelevant to me involved a cgi deer that came across as little more tan poor filler. Back to the "actions of a few", it was you Pope Francis who claimed one in every fifty priests was a paedophile and that there was a culture of covering up. Do you think, at a rough guess, none of the other forty-nine knew what was going on? Have you seen the wonderfully harrowing documentary Deliver Us From Evil' which showed how paedophile priests and bishops were moved parish rather than be punished for destroying people's lives, or did documentary bespoke/bewilder/be-something a whole religion too. The only people who have besmirched the RCC are the RCC. The fact that are still allowed to continue as a business, for that is all they have ever been, unabated, is completely shameful. |

Imagine getting upset about a brilliant movie because your relations are involved with an association that systematically covers up the actions of people like Oliver O'Grady

How he felt it didnt knit together is a strange one.
It was a completely absorbing film from start to finish. |

Clint Eastwood tells the true story of how 3 Americans stop a terrorist from shooting people on a train from Amsterdam to Paris. The twist here is that the 3 Americans are played by the real life people. People who are not actors, but sure lets stick them in front of a camera for 90 minutes. It starts off as flash backs to how the 3 became friends, how 2 joined the military and how 1 will amount to nothing. It didn't seem like there was much of a script and that it was improvised but it felt awkward. It's kind of like a porno when they are doing the awkward talking before banging, just get on with it. It followed them through Europe while they are backpacking. Nothing happens while they traveling through Italy and Germany, they just go clubbing and think Europe is 'Awesome'. When the exciting part came of them getting on the train you didn't really care. For good measure it ends with a voice over of a prayer. We love USA. We love God.

If you push the 'l' and 'i' together, you get a very accurate description of him.

I haven't watched either United 93 or 15:17 Paris, however I've no idea how they could stretch the latter incident out to an entire feature length film. At least with United 93 it was a hijacked plane - there's plenty of scope there to make a film out of it. But lads foiling a would-be attacker on a train? How is there more than a minute or two of action there? From what Darmack is suggesting the answer is 'there isn't' and therefore the vast majority of the film is back story. When you then throw in the fact that the three main characters are not even played by real actors it's not hard to see how the whole project ended up being a big load of forgettable tosh (according to Darmack and the couple of reviews I saw at least).

Get Out(2017)
I was hooked from the opening shot. Loved the blend of humour and suspense. And all done in at just over 90 mins. Thumbs up.

Was recommended to watch brawl in cell block 99 by my brother. He must have been pulling the piss as it easily the worst film i have seen in years. Its almost funny how bad it is. If you get your kicks taking apart a film or smoke dope and enjoy sh*te 80's flicks then give this a watch.
