Robert Carlyle in great form and Emma Thompson as his maw (it's set around Gallowgate) is even better.

I enjoyed it myself FW. Carlyle is excellent, as always.

Daddys Home 2

Took the kids (not mine), absolute sh*te.
Bearable for the first hour thanks to Gibson and Wahlberg (and some nice eye candy) but then descends into American Christmas drivel. The ending is a cringefest.

How the fcuk does Will Ferrell make a living.

You know well Gazza that you have to put the effort into the foreplay these days with the little f**kers.

Joking aside, I agree on Ferrell. He was involved in some clever SNL sketches, but every film he has done, or at least the couple I have seen, have been offensively bad. It seems to be just ridiculous gibberish that passes as dialogue and he has made a fortune out of it.
He obviously has, or at least had, some talent; did he just get lazy because it was easy?

Went to see Menashe this evening, which included a q+a with the main actor and director. It comes off as a cross between a documentary, a biopic and a fictional film and works really well. The cinematography is excellent, but so too is the story and understanding of Hasidic Jews and their culture. It is mad that the film ever got made but I am glad that it did. Excellent film, certainly in the top five I have watched this year. 9/10

Brawl in cell block 99

I didn't know what to expect with this as i only really consider Vince Vaughan a comedic actor , but this was class, slow to start but once the action got going i really enjoyed it.

Gruesome levels of violence at times but it all works.

Don "Nash bridges" Johnson is also excellent

4/5

So before I go see The Disaster Artist tomorrow I thought I'd watch the original masterpiece.

In terms of actual plot to this movie I've no idea but here it goes Johnny (Tommy Wiseau- who in turn wrote, directed and produced the movie) is engaged to Lisa, the films starts with sprawl of San Francisco which will randomly appear again throughout the film to break up scenes with music in the background which wouldn't be out of place in a bad 80's porno. Talking of porno the next 20 minutes of the film involve 3 sex scenes between Johnny and Lisa, then Lisa and Johnnys best friend Mark who Lisa is having an affair with followed by some random dialogue which I can't remember or is actually pivotal to the film, following this the same sex scene which was shown before between Johnny and Lisa is shown again (supposedly Tommy Wiseau thought people wouldn't notice).

After all this there is more needless dialogue which again doesn't have anything to do with the narrative as Johnny, Mark and the the little weird kid Denny play Football on the roof after Denny was confronted by a Drug Dealer called Chris R.

A lot of other stuff happens evidently Johnny overhears Lisa telling her mother (who earlier in needless dialogue had said she had cancer only to never talk of it again), she makes up lies about Johnny hitting her, BUT HE DID NOT, SHE IS LYING HE DID NOT HIT HER HE DID NOT.

Johnny then talks to Mark who is his best friend. they go running and throw a football around in tuxedos for no reasons with Denny and another random character who in another scene Mark attempted to throw off the roof as he found out about his and Lisa's affair.

It eventually comes to an end when at a birthday party held for Johnny he confronts Lisa and Mark. he then trashes his house/room and then shoots himself.

PS I KNOW I JUST GAVE AWAY MAJORITY OF MOVIE BUT TBH THAT 2 MINUTE READ IS PROBABLY BETTER THEN WASTING 1HR 20 OF YOUR LIFE ACTUALLY WATCHING THE ROOM

In terms of 0 to 5 rating.

I'd give it a 1 as it does have some laughs due to the terribleness of it.

Shall throw up a review of The Disaster Artist tomorrow

It's unbelievably bad but I suppose that's the reason it turned into a cult film.Wiseau cared about the project but had absolutely no idea what he was doing

I watched 2 excellent, darkly comic, crime flicks at the weekend.

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore. A woman gets burgled and goes after the perps with her "not quite all there" neighbour. It's one of those what could possibly go wrong situations. Hilarious and violent, on Netflix.

Good Time. 2 brothers botch a bank robbery, one is caught, the other spends a night trying to bail him out before he's sent to Rikers Island. It doesn't go smoothly.

I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore is on my list.
The premise and trailer reminded me of the excellent God Bless America just a little bit.
