Went to see 'The Big Sick' earlier, as good a romantic comedy as you will say. Original and honest, it is full of emotion and is properly funny in places. Laughs and tears and, biggest miracle of all, you don't want to kill Ray Romano in it. 9/10

When it comes to selecting the best film of 2017, this will be really hard to top. The best experience I have had at the cinema in recent memory. It completely hooks you from start to finish. The soundtrack is immense (The Damned’s Neat, Neat, Neat a highlight for me) the car chases are fantastic. A serious twitch off Eiza González.

This is not only a fantastic super hero movie, it is also a fantastic film. The acting is truly remarkable and as good as anything you will see. It has the perfect mix of drama, action, emotional context and above all else, ultra-violence. A masterpiece.

Hounds of Love (film).jpg

The acting in this is top notch. In particular, Australian comedian Stephen Curry who is chilling as one-half of the twisted serial killing partnership. The tension generated at times is fantastic but it falls a little flat and is it is a little particular. Director Ben Young's use Carol of the Bells is haunting and the scene with The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin is extremely disturbing. Also, great use of Joy Division's - Atmosphere. A good psychological thriller.

I thought that this was different but kind of ran out of ideas. In saying that it is highly entertaining and takes a really dark turn. Well worth a watch.

Caesar, with a rifle and Nova behind his back, on a horse with the films logo and "Witness the End July 14" at the bottom.

APE-POCALYPSE NOW. My favourite from this reboot trilogy. Bad Ape is the balls and offers a lot of comic relief. The action is superb and at times it is really nasty. Harrelson is a great villain with a nod towards Colonel Kurtz. Andy Serkis is fantastic as Caesar.

It didn't live up to the hype but it is a decent crime flick. Connors is solid in the lead but compared to the rest of the gang his accent is totally out of place. The ending is predictable but it is good to see an Irish movie do well at the box office. The Skanger hip-hop soundtrack does contribute to the film's gritty social realism but in general, I can't take it seriously.

After the two wank Garfield reboot's, I was semi-apprehensive going into this. Those fears were short lived as it is really enjoyable and action packed. Keaton is a great villain and Tom Holland is the best Peter Parker/Spiderman to date.

Johnny Harris delivers one of the greatest performances in recent memory. Winstone and Smiley are terrific in support and McShane adds even more class. It is really gritty and has a feel of kitchen sink realism about it. A great tale about exorcising your demons.

Wonder Woman (2017 film).jpg

Not the masterpiece that everyone is hailing it to be. Still, it is still really enjoyable and a good summer blockbuster. It is great to see a female lead superhero for a change. The origin story is straight to the point and doesn't fall into the trap of dragging on. The casting of Gadot is perfect, Pine is fantastic and they have great chemistry together. It goes without saying that the Huns are ****s, Huston is a good villain and Anaya is a sadist f**k. I love Rupert Gregson-Williams's Wonder Woman's Wrath.

Loved this. Loads of dark humour and ultra-violence. A cracking cast, too.

One really weird flick. It doesn't play out as your standard rape/revenge flick. It is extremely graphic in its execution. Every single one of the characters, are unlikeable and only for the subject matter, you would find it hard to have any empathy. A serious, serious, serious GILF twitch off Isabelle Huppert, who is excellent and deserved her oscar nomination. A good tale of cat and mouse. I suspect we will see a US remake.
