Is there any chance this'll be taken off them with possible convictions for bribes in the voting process?

Could the Qatari government sue FIFA if they did for infrastructure costs etc etc?
Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Doubt it. The Qataris know they only have to stretch it out until it's too late to switch elsewhere - another three years?

Not if it was the Qatari government which was proven to have paid the bribes in the first place. But see above.

As bad as Qatar is (and like the UAE it is an autocratic, theocratic hellhole with nothing but a veneer of respectability thanks to it's wealth), they are still infinitely morally superior to the disgraceful regime in Saudi Arabia. The fact FIFA are even considering these cowboys shows there is no depths to which they won't sink.

They want to bring peace to the middle east. Where centuries of diplomats and some of the finest minds have failed, FIFA are stepping in.

Best of luck, lads.

According to a report published by the International Trades Union Confederation (ITUC) approximately 1200 workers have already died since the World Cup was awarded to Qatar in 2010.

To put that number in perspective the ITUC also revealed the amount of workers killed in the lead up to other major sporting events around the world.

The next highest number of deaths were from the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics with 60 people killed and the 2004 Athens Olympics with 40 killed.

Ten workers died before the 2010 Beijing Olympics and seven were killed while working in construction for the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

There were zero construction fatalities for the 2012 London Olympics and one death for the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

The ITUC predicts that there will be at least 4000 worker fatalities by the time the 2022 FIFA World Cup begins.

That really does put it into context.

And don’t mention the 50 or so homeless people that will die this winter on our own door step.

I think it is great that people are aware of the homeless crisis in Ireland, a ridiculous situation in a western country in the 21st century, but what is the relevance here?

Qatar have introduced a 100% tax on alcohol overnight.
Will be known as the ‘Sin Tax’.

Bottle of 1L gin now costs about €80
24 pack of ‘Heino’ now costs €90
Bottle of wine now €20 (they obviously don’t think wine is too sinful).

Are you sure you aren't making a sin tax error?
