The deepest goal nets in Europe are thought to be those at La Romareda Stadium in Zaragoza, where they extend a full four metres back from the goal line.

The first personalised nets were made by the inmates of Durham Prison, who make around 750 goal nets a year. These are sold to a number of football clubs, including Leeds United and Sunderland, and cost up to £200 a time.

Saw that on a goalkeeping website.

Does anyone remeber when the goals collapsed in the Mexico Bulgaria match in USA94?

Could see it happening a mile off with their flimsy stanchions.

I see Atletico Madrid have brought back some proper deep nets. Not as deep as the old days in Barcelona for example but enough netting to clear the sea of fish off the west coast of Ireland.Clap

Interesting. It is a loop but the loop looks too big for the ball to get stuck in the corner. I'm very concerned about the depth of the goal too.

It's your classic loop but not a great loop.

Trevor Brooking got one in Hungary back in the day, 1981 id say.

Yes it has to go down in history as one of the most unusual stanchion set ups of all time

They didnt have those stanchions when we were there in March 2013.  One can only assume that they aspired to stanchion excellence and went to the stanchion shop.
