Dont know if anybody knows this but one of the players who could appear in the Euro 2008 final has won an all Ireland schools medal for feckin Meath, wonder if he has that with his champions league winners medal.

Guess the wikipedia link below has given the game away.

Yeah it’s a good one that Count, think people will struggle to answer that one, pity its not a team with loads of ex GAA players playing in green getting the medal.

This has come up a few times in different newspapers
I'm not sure if he actually won a medal, but he certainly played GAA.
I think it was only a game or two though when he was here as an exchange student

Excellent piece of info. Just the thought of him going for the point in the final has got me all excited and I don't even like GAA.
There are friendlier places to drink.

Hector also interviewed Xabi and gave him a Meath jersey to which Alonso proceeded to play with a gaa ball.

The guy who teaches Liverpool's foreign players to speak English is from Wicklow and he asked the players (excluding Alonso) if they knew any words of English.

One player (probably Garcia or  Nunez) replied - "Tesco carpark, Ballybrack" Smile

Alonso was in Kells as an exchange student for a summer I think. He only went to a few Meath games in Croker that summer, don't think he played for Meath......he isn't that much of a pr1ck!! LOL
