Macken was 26 when he played for Ireland - I don't think we've ever called up a 33 year old born abroad for a first cap.
We're decent enough..

Nor I, though I think Bernie Slaven was 30 when he got fed-up waiting for a Scotland call-up and opted for Ireland instead. The legendary Paul Butler, who qualified via his stepfather’s Irish father and got one cap, was 28 I think at the time.

James Collins maybe. Or McGoldrick? Both English born and late 20s when first capped.

McGoldrick didn't know he qualifed until late in his career though because he was adopted, and James Collins actually played U19s and U21s for us. Just was never called up to the seniors as he played in the lower leagues.

Collins has been playing for Ireland since he was 17.

McGoldrick declared when he was 26, pretty much as soon as he confirmed he was eligible.

Slaven made his debut aged 29.
We're decent enough..

Folan was first called up in 2007 when he was 24, he first played in one of Trapattoni's early challenge games just before he turned 26.

Aldridge made his debut at 27.

And should have had their second but, prompted or unprompted, he left it to Lallana. Glenn Murray on soccer Saturday said he wouldn't have left it to Lallana if he were in Ferguson's shoes.
