Be as well to stand himself down from international duty for the rest of the year to be honest. He needs to limit his games given his age and it's a complete waste of everyone's time anyway.

Will it be another Ryan Giggs / Roy Keane where he is too important for his club that they miss Ireland games but then play for their clubs the following weekend.

Now I don’t mind that Ferguson needs to be protected and get himself fit and I am glad he is ready for the weekend but you would hate it if it was happening all the time that he was missing ireland to be ready for the Prem

He came to Dublin and was assessed by the FAI doctors.

Being honest I'd say he was genuinely sore but will eb keeping an eye out it becomes a recurring theme with him.

Roy Keane deliberately missed a load of games when he was fit because Fergie had him under the thumb.

https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/patellar-tendonitis-jumpers-knee

The problem is that if it's patellar tendonitis as has been suggested, also called jumpers knee, it can become chronic and the only way to manage it is through resting which is difficult if you are a professional footballer.

Does patellar tendonitis go away? With the appropriate treatments, patellar tendonitis will likely go away, but your doctor or physical therapist may suggest strengthening and flexibility exercises to help keep patellar tendonitis from returning.

Yeah bit of weird narrative to think he might be feigning / over exaggerating injuries.

He'll have had 2 full weeks of rest by the times Brightons next game comes around and he probably wont be starting for them either.

Not sure how he could have been expected to have recovered in 5 days for us to feature against France or even Netherlands 3 days later.

I’m not doubting it’s not genuine but he has been playing through it at Brighton. I defo agree if there is a chance to get it sorted then do it. But it could be similar into future if he is a player that gets niggles (seen a few already) then we might get the brunt of it from a games he will miss perspective. Some players their clubs might not be too bothered letting the lad away to play but top players are usually very protected by their club especially if they are, as I said, the type who pick up niggles.

It will probably depend on what level of games we're playing in. If we're playing in crucial qualifiers and playoff games he'll be keen to make himself available I'm sure. Whereas if we're always playing in dead rubbers because we've been managed out of contention after three games time and again then he'll probably agree to sit it out.

Ferguson is defecting to England then.

Extremely unlikely that he will declare for England at this stage but in a scenario of the most extreme it sums up Kenny's ineptitude if the situation arises, the team is a mess and no surprise he doesn't want to be part of it. Personally I think the FAI's medical team declared Fergie unfit with the consultation of Brighton's staff since they are taking the management of him very sincerely with the hope he holds his value and they'll hope to flog him for over a hundred million. I don't believe his withdrawal form the team is because England are poaching him.
