Not inconceivable that BATE could score at least one, they've had decent chances in both halves now. Arsenal seem to be overly focused on getting to the end line and getting crosses in, but BATE have that many players defending in their box, that it's not that effective.

Koscielny going off which is a concern. Mkhitaryan is frustrating to watch, shows glimpses of being a good player but his final ball can be disappointing.

Emery will put out a strong team even if a few of the regulars are rotated. one of lacazette or aub will likely start but not both along with ozil, cech in goal, torreira in midfield etc. etc.

Rennes may be in poor form but they have demonstrated a capability to get results against difficult opposition this season. Emery won't take them lightly and will know what he is up against from his time at PSG.

EDIT: I completely forgot Lacazette is suspended. Auba will start.

As expected a strong team with a few tweaks........

                    Cech

Mustafi  Koscielny  Sokratis  Monreal

              Torreira  Xhaka

    Mkhitaryan    Ozil       Iwobi;

                  Aubameyang

Subs: Leno, Kolasinac, Maitland-Niles, Guendouzi, Suarez, Ramsey, Nketiah.

Great seeing Koscielny and Sokratis line up together. If they can stay fit they will form a formidable partnership.

Give it time. They have barely played together this season.

Where to f*cking start. Firstly, I can't believe he left Ozil on for as long as he did, effectively playing with 9 men if you're looking for him to put in a shift. Iwobi should have been left on. I've been waiting for Sokratis to get sent off, he can be clumsy and reckless at times. I actually think his 2nd yellow was the incorrect decision, Sarr had hooked his arm rather than the other way around. No real complaints though as in real time, I thought it was a 2nd yellow until I saw the replay from behind the goal.

Guendouzi was shocking last night. Only on the pitch for 45 minutes but gave the ball away about 8 times. I know he's young and has a lot of talent but he needs to understand, or be told, his limitations in possession. His strengths are his athleticism and his ability to win back the ball. Won back the ball a few times last night and then gave it straight back to Rennes.

Incredibly naive from Emery and the team in the final 10 minutes. A 2-1 loss to bring back to the Emirates wouldn't have been too bad. But Monreal goes right up the other end of the pitch to take a throw in, loses the ball, can't make it back in time. Also, Ramsey, who is kind of covering him, doesn't have the athleticism to make it back either. Going back to my earlier point about Iwobi, I think he'd have been able to make it back to prevent the header.

Not confident at all now with a 2 goal deficit. Rennes pace on the break will exploit what is a very slow back line and midfield, apart from Koscielny.

I can see Arsenal scoring 2 goals tonight but I'd be surprised if they keep a clean sheet.

Rennes need to score to have any hope of going through. Arsenal will get at least two goals.
