I actually think Turkey would be decent hosts too. A country with plenty of culture and heritage, fabulous cities, decent food and drink too.
time is the stuff that life is made of, don't waste it.

Pain in the arse to get around. No choice but to fly to a heap of the venues, or else take like 20 hour bus journeys. Even some of the other venues are only linked by overnight trains, not day trains.

Nowhere in Germany is more than five or six hours away from anywhere else, just about, whether flying, driving or taking the train.

Turkey have submitted their bid today.

Noticed Gaziantep is 1 of the venues listed. Right on the South border with Syria and pretty notorious for sleeper cells in hiding. It might be 6 years later on but f**k that LOL

No way. As I said earlier they went out of their way IMO to not give them Euro 2020.

It's exactly what everyone wants and needs after Russia, The pan Europe non event and Qatar, if themselves and Poland could take turns hosting the tournament I'd be a happy man

There are industrial estates that are nicer places than Gelsenkirchen, though it would be hard enough to tell them apart. Hard to see anything other than Germany getting the nod, which is all good, even including Gelsenkirchen.

It’s between Germany and Turkey for Euro 2024.
Evaluation reports released today.
Decision to be announced next Thursday.

Germany match tickets 2.78 million
Turkey match tickets 2.29 million

Reports criticise Turkeys record on Human Rights.
Alcohol advertising ban in Turkey.

Germany has v good road/rail/air has infrastructure.
Turkey will rely on air infrastructure.

Time to get out the German phrase book so.

It's been Germany from the beginning. Sure this Euros for Europe was done so they wouldn't have to give the tournament to Turkey as it looked as if they were going to be  the only bidders for 2020

Well, let's see...as well as the infrastructure that you mentioned, Germany has experience of holding a major tournament as recently as 2006.  Turkey, on the other hand, have no hosting experience. Not only that but when they were the only bidders for Euro 2020, UEFA decided instead to stage that tournament across the continent.  Surely that should have sent out it's own message to the Turks.

Between that, the other issues with Turkey eg human rights issues and the obvious advantages of the German bid, it's surely a no-brainer to give this tournament to Germany.  But then again it was a no-brainer to keep the 2022 world cup away from Qatar...Ermm
The nation holds it's breath...YES, WE'RE THERE!!!

Turkish economic instability at present is likely to work against them. Erdogan might want to throw cash at it, but I think even he knows it would look bad to throw money at hosting a tournament when there are people starving on the streets. Losing is winning for him, because he gets to gripe about conspiracies and Europe, but doesn't actually have to pony up the cash to host the tournament.

Germans pretty confident of getting it.
It would take some major f up to give it to Turkey.

Won't sell many tickets, bad human rights record, no alcohol, sounds like a successful World Cup bid to me Thumbs Up
