Really don't think the amount of teams has anything to do with it.
The biggest factor right now is there is no dominant nation in Europe right now.. Each with their major own strengths and major weaknesses but there's also alot of under-performing individuals out there also - Your Ronaldo's, Ibra's, Alaba's have done absolutely nothing so far.
Only star names who have shown up so far is Bale and Iniesta
 
I disagree
If i remove my green tinted specs for a minute, it was a better all round tournament with four groups of four, the best 16 teams from the continent. There would be no Ukraine, Hungary, Sweden or Ourselves, very average teams that have diluted the quality, truth being told. Probably no Russia either.
 
As well as that, at least it was crystal clear what could happen in the groups back then, top 2 go through and know who they play in the next stage. Not the current nonsense we have. For example last night we knew England, Wales and Slovakia were more than likely all through to the last 16 before a ball was kicked, there was no excitement whatsoever in those games really.
Northern Ireland will probably lose tonight and then not know until tomorrow night if they are going home or not.

If Wales get the North in the last 16. It'll take probably Croatia/France/Spain to stop them in the QFs.

They've a fair old chance against everyone else including Germany.
I won the Player of the Century award thanks to the people.Pele was second.He also came second behind Aryton Senna as Brazil's greatest sportsman.The award FIFA gave Pele isn't worth sh*t - Maradona

Wales are in the top half draw, they can only face a big hitter France, Spain , Germany, Italy or England in the final

they'll face either a Croatia, Switzerland Poland etc to get to the final
