Clattenburg is now the Chinese Super League's referee supremo.

God help them.

Craig Pawson is the tef for the Sunderland v Pompey game on Saturday. Demoted I presume from the EPL for being poor?

I can see why Pawson isn't a ref in the EPL these days.

He was dreadful yesterday.

Bobby Madley is to return to being a ref in England in the lower leagues after being sacked from the PL 18 months ago for discrimination.

Why is swearing at match officials tolerated in professional football? Just clearly heard a Southampton player yell at a linesman to " F**k off.. its clearly in the rules it's a red card offence. If  a junior player does it in my local league he's off the pitch and we all play under the same FIFA rules. Regularly see LOI players get away with it too.

In theory it's something that should be an easy enough fix as well. They just make it clear at the start of a season that there's going to be crack down on it. There'll be a few red cards early on in the season and then everyone will cop on fairly sharpish.

Although I'm sure there would be a ridiculous backlash to it as well - with plenty of fans moaning that, similar to how many view VAR, that it's sterilising/taking the passion out of the game. There's also the issue that the Premier League is home to a United Nations of players and should, for example, an English player be treated differently just because an official can understand the abuse he's receiving?

Doesn't even have to be anything like that as it's already in the rules! Get the two captains together at the start of the game and that should be enough.

The standard is f**king dreadful! Could be doing with getting a few decent ones! Was that Australian ref not meant to join the EPL?
