Police warning the fans not to put flags on War Memorials or sing inappropriate songs.

I'm sorry but if you have to warn someone not to do that they probably deserve to get the sh*t kicked out of them
Fcuking love them to do that in Volgograd (Stalingrad) LOLLOLLOL

There was some 'football police and order' expert, whatever the f**k that is, on Victoria Derbyshire this morning( not literally, thank Christ) and he was saying that it is 'a positive' the fact that normally when England fans are going abroad we are worried about their behaviour and here we are worried about their treatment.
In other words, let's rejoice in the fact that there is someone worse.

They'll do it anyway

Only 7-10K travelling over for it. Pretty shocking stat given the numbers they usually bring.

We'd have probably outnumbered that.

Had we qualified, how many lads do you think we'd have brought in total between going over and back for certain games. 15-20K?

Wings? They're only the band The Beatles could have been.

Moot statement and discussion.....but I dont think it would have been many given the cost, current political situation and potential to get a kicking. A fan will die in Russia mark my words. I wouldnt go near the place.

I doubt we'd have been high up on the list of targets for Russian hooligans though. We wouldn't have brought half as many to Poland still less France but I do think we'd have taken at least 10k in total going over. People probably would've cherry picked the games given the large distances.

Russian hooligan types will fight with anyone. Being English speaking i fear our fans would have been a 'western target'. Doubt the average Russian football goon cares or even knows about the difference in kicking a pished up lad from Newry or a pissed up lad from Donnington about the street.

Still I'd feel a lot safer with a tricolour over in Russia than a UJ. You would have to keep your wits about you mind.

ah will you stop Fintan

The Russian hoolies are extremely well organised, sure they are practically doing MMA training for it. There was plenty anecdotal stories of Irish fans meeting them and once they realised they were Irish fans were 'friendly' and let them be.

The only fans in Russia that should be worried about Russian hooligans are the English, every other countries fans will be safe just like at every other WC tournament- Brazil and South Africa had the usual Miss Lovejoy bullsh*t stories of fan issues.

But I think the authorities will turn a blind eye for their special friends from the UK

During the Euros a lad ran up to me, asked where I was from. When I said Ireland, he smiled and said We like you are OK and walked off

If you are an England fan you are pretty much guaranteed to qualify for every tournament.

I’d say a lot aren’t bothered going to Russia due to the threat of a good battering.
Missing the odd tournament is not an issue for them.

They’ll have the Euro’s in 2 years time.

It is hard to know really.

Assuming we got Denmark's fixtures then we could have brought 15K or so to Moscow for the France match.   Big stadium cheap flights and no real ticket issues.   The numbers in Saransk and Samara would have been much lower though.

England don't play in Moscow or SPB.  Kaliningrad seems easy to get to but is actually really awkward.

It is not just England fans that aren't travelling.  Germany, Belgium, Denmark et al are not travelling in big numbers.  The countries with huge support in Russia will be from outside of Europe.  Brazil, Mexico and Argentina will have huge support.  Even the likes of Colombia and Peru will probably out number the major European nations.  Egypt will travel in big numbers as will Morocco.

The day after Sweden game in Paris at the Euros my Mate and I were in a strip club beside Moulin Rouge, we were well gargled at this stage. Couple of English fans in as well. We started saying to them “1 nil and you f**kd it up” (even though Ireland had done the exact same the previous day). One of them took exception to this and boxed me in the face. Bouncer threw them out. We got served a couple of free drinks and a free dance Ouch Beer
