I know it's the GAA and they wouldn't be the most welcome on this site but you know it's coming to the long evenings in beer gardens and sunny days when Dublin and Meath start the handbags at each other

http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2008/0420/dublin_meath.html

Third thing down on the right hand side, Sunday Sport.

I'm from Westmeath so next Saturday will be a day in the pub for me. Chelsea v United at noon and Dublin v Westmeath at 7pm, happy days!

I seen the "mill". There were certainly some fists flying - would be some massive suspensions if something like that happened in a Premiership game

The Scum against The Filth...is there no better bloodbath on the sporting agenda, probably not except in Compromise Rules.

16 Suspensions after Sunday. Meath to miss 4 defenders and keeper for first 2 championship matches. Hardly the greatest over the top reaction of all time?? Dublin to have 9 lads suspended for league final this sunday

Meath suspended

Citizen, I defo take on board your point as i can certainly understand why the rest of the country hates us. Between the media hyping us up and all the bogeys on the Hill, it's not hard to understand why we're hated. BUT i cant agree with you on Whelo - he's a smashing player

As much as it sickens me to say it coming from Westmeath, Geraghty has two All-Irelands, including one as captain, Whelan has none.

HM, the Irish media is based in Dublin so that's why they get hyped so much, not the teams fault at all, but it does annoy the hell out of us boggers.

I remember a few years ago, the Dub 'supporters' were getting on Whelans back too. Not the die hard Dublin GAA supporters now, I'm talking about the boys who think they are at an old firm game on the hill and haven't a clue about the game at all, it's just a day out on the beer for them. I think the Dubs attract more of those types of fans than any other county, and that annoys us too.

Aye,that Hill 16 Dublin only jibe is a load of me bollecks.
Segregation should not be part of the GAA.
Got mighty abuse up there one day at a Leinster final...but I did want to make a point and stand where many generations of my family had done before me.

RE:Whelan - dirty backstard that fella, and a highly overrated footballer...top athlete mind you,as are the rest of that team, but sorely lacking in real footballing skills. He has a strong propensity of going 'missing' in big games too.
