Twas my birthday last week so had a few during the week and last night. I'm going off the booze from today until 24th February. I've arranged to meet an old friend in town that night for a few pints. Hopefully giving up the booze for a while will help me give up the smokes as well.

i lasted until Friday evening after someone sent me a link about dry January actually being bad for your health. obviously had to look after the health so went for a few pints.

that said, i felt great after 6 days off.

only have a few pints once a week now for January.

I think PM's falling off the wagon can be an inspiration for the rest of us - as watching darts is bad enough but women's darts with a horny hangover - I think I'll be on the dry till July now.

I'll be finishing dry jan  tomorrow.5 weeks off the sauce,did the same last year

Benefits.
Way more relaxed about everything,no real stress or anxiety,more money,clearer thinking,enough hours in the day to actually get on top of everything,getting lots of exercise,have no problem going to the pub and not drinking so not missing out on the social scene (always leave around midnight though when things get messing and annoying)

Bad points.
Cant really think of any.


So why am i so looking forward to hitting the pub tomorrow for 6N and then heading up to Mchale park to watch Mayo in the league opener before heading back to the pub? I dont know,its a strange one.....I did the same thing last year and toyed with the idea of staying off the booze for a year,thought about it this year aswell.Us Irish have a strange relationship with drink.
