Pubs in Australia have opened as normal and no new cases associated with pubs or restaurants.
177k people in Construction returned to work in the last few weeks and not 1 single case linked to them yet. open the country up in every sector internally and leave the snowflakes stay at home if they like.

The gym in Raheny closed as well. The owner put a massive amount of money into renovating it and now it's unsustainable. I was paying 199 for 18 months. Unreal value and the location was perfect for me as well. Many more pubs, gyms restaurants will go to the wall. |

Anyone know the guidelines for pubs reopening on July 20th. Think that'll be the acid test. Although soundings coming out seem to suggest a vaccine might be available in autumn.

I've certainly missed the social side of drinking being furloughed.
The concern is some of the quality smaller pubs will not be able to reopen in the foreseeable future with the social distancing factor.

The one in coolock is owned by a lad from donnycarney...he was meant to changed the name after he bought it but some legal issue (costs) meant he kept the name.the ex owners bought the station house called it cock and bull then had to change it to the Manhattan because they didn’t want to be associated with the coolock pub of the then same name. Foxhound in kilbarrack is gone aswell I heard...no real loss but the natives down there will be restless.

The crazy and idiotic rules for the pubs reopening have been done to death at this stage But what is Fáilte Ireland’s skin in the game? Surely the cabinet can overrule the ‘guidance’ and you’d think especially the rural TDs would be kicking up stink over it. One matter completely ignored in their guidance is the use of outdoor areas for pubs. What’s the science around the limited time in those cases..
Anyway, what are we aiming for with infection rates and cases? We are down to the bare bones at this stage. Cases will be higher surely when the border reopens to tourists in July/August onwards so if there’s any time to encourage mass gatherings/full reopening of the economy it’s now. We had mass gatherings over the June BH and there’s been no rebound. New York is another good example. Case rates continue to fall despite all the protests and street socialising over the last few weeks. It suggests that the countries that have been hard hit are less susceptible to another spike.

I think lads are getting mixed up. Not every measure is based on science. The industry is given a framework that they have to work within based on science then they come up with the rules and overarching body that is based on mix of that advice and commercial factors etc. The less than 2 hours thing is to increase turnover in many ways esp outside. It’s to keep
The tables moving. The pubs are open as restaurants and I think many people are forgetting that. Vast majority of people who gfo To a restaurant spend more than 9 euro and are there for approx 90 mins to 2 hours.
People are comparing it with pubs but it’s restauants that are opening and pubs posing as restaurants

Said before that my brother is in a band and they've been told that they might need perspex glass in front of them, as sometimes saliva from a singer can go as far as 14ft.

My favourite pubs in Dublin are the smaller ones where social distancing will be neigh on impossible, The Confession Box, Briodys, The Flowing Tide, The Sackvilke to name a few. Don't know how they are expected to reopen and operate under current guidelines. As for the question, to me it's not missing the pub, it's more having the option of going to the pub being removed. I would go for 6/7 pints on a Friday night most weeks, so it's a small change to my routine, missing the whole Friday night football and pre/post match pints more. Friday night is/was my bit of freedom from family responsibilities.
