He still represented them at international level. As he said himself, you're either one or the other you can't be both. Very hypocritical.

Think he is dead right about McClean. Double standards.

It's a nonsense comparison really although I understand why Norn Iron fans are upset with him with their warped view of geography and culture of this island. The English fans are too ignorant to understand.

Anyone who can't spell McClean at this stage should be shot, never mind  banned!
Greed has won, big finance has won. Whatever small role elite clubs still play in the local communities from which they grew is dwarfed now by their position as global brands.

listened to Rices interview with Hargreaves from last week I think. I know this isn’t going to surprise anyone but going from what he was saying about the international breaks while he was in limbo he definitely had this planned all along and was just waiting for everything to fall into place before making public his intentions.

There's a Declan Rice feature on football focus. One of the guests on it is Kevin Kilbane.

Nearly all sides are worse on paper now. How players fit into a system is far more important than individual skill.

Systems are far more rudimentary at international level compared to club football because international teams don't spend much time together

A finely honed high tempo attacking system like Liverpool play is almost impossible to implement at international level

Because tactical systems at that level are so rudimentary things usually come back to technique, where England are found wanting against the top continental teams

Very true, but then international football is also much weaker than the top of club football and, almost as a result, much more entertaining.

I would fancy the likes of Brazil and france to beat Liverpool and spurs judging on last Saturday's match.

Really? I only watched the CL semis and final, as well as the FA Cup final and got nothing from it, despite supposedly 'amazing' comebacks. Maybe it is just my love for it has completely dissipated. International football still holds some semblance of meritocracy that endears.

Nobody cares about the FA Cup

Teams deliberately go out to lose in it

The Champions League is the pinnacle of football these days

The level of play at top international level is well behind it

Also two leg ties with the away goals rule tend to be much more exciting than your average one off knockout tie than you get in international finals
