Despair! All hope is lost!

Has O'Neill held those face-to-face talks with Rice yet that we were hearing about last week?

It was in the papers, with meetings with Ward and Arter also discussed - here for example. https://m.independent.ie/sport/soccer/international-soccer/martin-oneill-and-roy-keane-set-for-facetoface-talks-with-three-players-in-bid-to-restore-irish-harmony-37320257.html

No direct quotes, but O'Neill wouldn't be doing his job properly if he didn't get the finger out at at least try to set up a meeting with the lad.

RB makes a perfectly reasonable point.

'The Ivory Coast had been begging for ages. The country and the fans love me already, and I haven’t even done anything. I may not get the red carpet, it may not have the same Nike deals as when you play for England, but I’m going to be playing, I’m going to be loved and that’s all I want. Nothing else.

“So when I watched the World Cup I was annoyed, yeah, because we could have been there'

Zaha's comments on picking the ivory coast having also had two England caps. Think it sums up the choice for Rice. Being loved versus the Nike deals! That might be an overly simplistic way of looking at it but still food for thought.

Declan has the potential to be an incredible player.

Let’s be honest, if he rates himself as highly as he should, he’ll be lining out for England.

It’s only a matter of time before one of the top six tries to sign him.

Did you notice in the after match interview that he sounded much more English than his last interview he’s definitely gone lads
