I actually don’t think Moyes has said much wrong. He set out the stall of what the CB should do, and qualified that by saying all young players make mistakes and hopefully he’ll learn from it.

Moyes has shown huge faith in Rice this term, and won’t be dropping him for that.

Just heard the interview this morning. I don't think he said anything too bad either tbh.

To his credit, Moyes keeps faith in Rice, who retains his place in the starting line-up against a formidable Man City attack. Cullen on the bench.

Not his fault really though. Adrian went down to save the incoming low cross and touched it onto Rice's feet. Not much he could do about it.

no, it wasn't an awful mistake, but his body shape was a bit off. He was angled slightly towards the goal when he probably should have been more square.

Last touch actually comes off Zabaleta, but it appears that Rice has been awarded the own goal.

Unlucky for the goal. Lucky that his misplaced pass didn't lead to another one.

Zabaleta got the final touch, and is being 'credited' with the o.g. on Sky Sports' website.

Yep, looks like livescore are the only place crediting Declan with the goal.

Not that it really matters, he still played a big part in the concession of it.

since the Man City game where David moyes called him out for some bad mistakes he has been immense, the last two games against Leicester and Utd have without question been his two most complete games so far, no mistakes and very little has passed him, his range of passing for a defender is a real joy to watch probably why moyes sees his long term future in midfield. We have a very special player on our hands.

Great to hear. Didn't see the match last night but have read he had a good game.
I'm not overly concerned about the mistakes. He's a young defender and they'll eventually be eradicated from his game with a bit of experience.

Was solid last night. The mistakes this season will be a great learning experience for him and it will be interesting to see how he gets on next season with Reid and Collins to come back in.

Collins is 35 ahead of the new season. Bit part beckons.

Rice will continue to get games under his belt. Home grown lad and all that.

if Moyes stays in the Job he has stated that he sees rice as a midfielder rather than centre back, I feel Oneill wants to do the same with him.

Would like to see him play a role sitting in front of our defence. Primarily for his ability to link up play and keeping the game moving... forward.
