Picked up one on ebay a while back. Nest Base is the brand. Plenty of options out there though and can be cheap as chips or as pricey as you want.

Have a next base myself and they're good. Altogether was €150 in Halfords and they fitted it too. Thankfully haven't needed it for myself but came in handy one night when the car in front ran into the back of someone and did a runner.

Have had one for a few years now and am conscious when driving others cars that don't have one. Haven't mine hard wired but have the wire tucked behind all the trim so you only see the wire coming in to the cig charger. I think some newer cars (Skoda anyway) are including a usb on the back of the rear view mirror for dash cams to be plugged into.

Have a Nextbase as well. Touch wood haven't needed it for any accidents to date.

Not relevant to Ireland but in Cambodia at the moment and noticed the taxi man had one. Assumed that it was because of all the mopeds etc but he was saying that they help stop police bribes too because once the police see they’ve a dash cam they’ll wave them on instead of accusing them of speeding.
